6:30 p.m.
It looked like another eviction. "That's four this week," he sighed, taking advantage of the discarded belongings. It seemed to him like a magic dust was powered onto turned out items with how quickly they always vanished after the cover of dark came and before the patrols started their rounds. He wasn't coming back later this time. He'd missing something special if he did.
Abandoned or discarded furniture and other items were not at all uncommon in this neighborhood or even in some nicer ones, not that this one was too terrible. Nevaeh was on her way home with a sack of miscellaneous canned goods from the local food pantry which she also worked at. Her expression brightened as she saw the loot on the sidewalk and she was hopeful she might have a chance to get some good items from the discard as it was still early and likely hadn't been picked through too much. She always kept her eye out for such things, living in this city in these times, it was common place for most of your belongings to have once belonged to someone else. Hand-me-downs and passed around and scooped up was pretty much all she had, she sighed as she slowed to take a better look. "Hmm it's not often they throw away perfectly good boys.. must mean you're not perfectly good." She grinned, finding something more appealing than the blanket she had reached to scoop up.
He seemed to dodge as if thinking she was warning him about someone else. He hadn't sensed anyone else coming, though, only her. He turned, putting the chair back he'd begun to cart off. "Throwing away what?" He gave an innocent smile, pretending he hadn't heard her clearly. Her scent was clear enough, though and it made him dizzy a moment. That was new.
"Boys.. you. Whoever threw you out was plum outta thier mind." She smiled, not being shy about taking the blanket and a throw pillow that would need to be brushed off but wasn't badly soiled. "Ohh are you going to take that one?" She asked politely as if they were at the store and not picking up things off the street. Nev pointed to a thicker comforter that had some pukey flower pattern on it but she'd take it if he wasn't going to. She'd take him with it if she could and she was thinking of trying, taking a step toward him with a cute and falsely shy smile.
"The chair? Or... ew, that? No," he said, not keen on the odd flowers or their color, a pattern that made his head spin worse. He realized she asked because she probably liked it and he apologized as she stepped closer and the scent shifted as well. "I mean, I'm not a flowery, um... Go ahead. I don't get cold, much. These aren't mine. I wasn't thrown out with them, if that's what you meant. And um.. I guess... thanks? No one's ever said anything like that to me before."
"I'm not too into flowers myself but the other side might be plain or I can hide it under another one." She smiled at him more warmly as she shifted to pick absently through the mix, paying a little more attention to him. He sure was a cutie. "I don't get cold much myself.. but I like snuggly things in my bed." She explained her desire for the ugly cover and cast a warm glance over him. "Not thrown out? Too bad, I guess I can't take you home... or can I?" She licked at her lips and giggled softly, turning to face him more fully, edging closer and closer to him. "My name is Nevaeh... that's heaven backwards.. " She introduced herself with a hinting tease, she was sure he'd know she was flirting with him.
