August 17, 2008 12:20 a.m. after "I smelled her first"
Gannon's attention was divided between the girl who had run off and the comfortable discomfort she'd given him, and his brother who was threatening to start tearing the place up because he had a burst of energy after his little snack. Amethyst had left the fumes of discouragement in her wake, serving to help Gannon's thoughts to clear a little. "Way to go, Diva Dan. You think you can ease up a little? She was offering us a free place to stay, moron."
Conneach's thoughts were quite clear and he had no trouble voicing them. "You'd break her in half before she came once. That airhead of hers would pop clean off.. maybe even explooode," he chuckled, seeming to want to watch that episode happen.
"That's sick," Gannon said, finding himself also chuckling. He shook his head, looking up as the pie he'd ordered showed up with the waitress who been giving them the hotfoot. The chuckle faded. "We got a call," he explained with a straight face to the woman. "EMT's.. long night ahead. Tell her we're sorry, okay? We'll just take this," he said, taking the pie on its foiled card off the plate and wrapping it in a napkin. He tossed down the couple of wadded dollars he had in his pocket and slid around the table, nudging his brother to come along. He appreciated that Con really had his best interest in mind, deciding that the girl wasn't really a good match for him, but the way he proved his point could use a little finesse.
The road up the hill out of town was shorter than the map seemed to indicate. Maybe he was just that tired and ready to look at something other than the expanse of flickering yellow and black-top that he drove faster than he realized. It was just after midnight when they found the turn-off.. or nearly missed it. He passed it and was standing on the brake, thankful the road was empty this time of night. Gannon turned them around and pulled in the lot slowly, looking the place over. "What kinda shit is this? You seeing this, Con?"
"I was looking at my eyelids," he replied, groggily paying attention now that he'd nearly met the windshield with the sudden lurch that pulled him out of his doze. He blinked roughly a couple times and looked around the building and lot. "It's an old hotel and that's what it looks like. Old. Maybe quiet. I'll get the bags," he said once they'd parked.
Gannon was able to park close-in. There were lights on in a couple windows but the lot was almost empty. A couple of motorcycles and two other cars that he noted, but the drive seemed to run around back, maybe dropping out of view in the dark to another lot where staff parked or something. It felt nice to hear and feel the gravel under his boots and the quiet night the wooded area blanketed the scene with. "I'll give you quiet and raise you a silent night. You hear that? Not even crickets. It's August. Weird creepy old inn and even the bugs are afraid of it, huh?" He laughed and nudged Con's arm. He grabbed his pie and got out, heading into the lobby while Con caught up.

Chloe and Logan stood on one side of the reception desk and another pretty brunette stood on the other side checking them in and getting their room keys. The two wolves turned their gazes toward the door as it was opened, the man was good looking but reaked of a female and Logan made a face at the scent and turned back to the desk.
Chloe glanced past the male in search of the female but didn't see her, it's too bad he had a mate.. she would not have minded getting to know him up close and personal.
Gannon checked back behind him to see if Con was really coming in with the bags or wandering off into the bushes somewhere. He didn't see him at the moment and headed to the desk. He saw the ladies turn and he offered a polite smile, though they turned back to their business quickly. He must have been tired. He missed it until the door closed behind him and the breeze stopped. The scent...? He smelled his own shirt and decided it was time it came off, anyway. It had Amethyst's scent on it along with Con's smoke from the day in the truck, the beer from the club and the stink of the nasty waitress's scowl. He slipped the flannel off, leaving the clean T to shine on its own, then approached the desk and the ladies there. The door opened again behind him and Conneach trudged in, half awake with the two satchels.
Chloe hadn't looked away and she chuckled as the guy sniffed his shirt, well he was what he was and it didn't take a genius to figure out when your scent was stinking up the place. She smiled a little, letting her eyes roll over him before turning back to the counter to give the woman across the desk her credit card.
Logan chuckled at Chloe but her own attention was pulled away as the door opened again, it wasn't a female who entered but a fine specimen of male wolf. Logan licked her lips. "Thank you.. I'll have one of those and don't call me in the morning." She murmured in regard to what came walking into the lobby.
Con heard the mutter and glanced over at the desk. The scent caught him by surprise enough he nearly dropped the bags. He partly threw Gannon's bag at him, aiming for his feet. "Yours. I got all I need right here," he said as he came up to them, pulling his own pack up over his shoulder and looking over at the girl at the desk, giving her hardly-shy nod.
Gannon tossed the flannel down on the top of his bag as it was so gently delivered to him and set the wrapped up pie on top. It was starting to darken the napkin around it, making it a curious looking package. He smiled again for the girl who was watching Con intently. She knew his number alright and he chuckled a little as he dug for his wallet.
Chloe watched Logan and for a moment envied how not shy she tended to be, she turned and saw Gan digging for his wallet. That gave her an idea and the grin spread over her face, her eyes lit with mischef. "Oh don't bother.. we just took the last two rooms. They're all full.. so ah.. guess you'll have to share with us."
Logan was about to start flirting directly when Chloe spoke up, way to go girl! She laughed softly and grabbed her set of keys off the desk, giving the clerk a look that said just play along. She turned back toward Con and didn't even try to pretend she had any issue with that idea. "Yeah.. this one is mine." She reached over to try and get a grip on anything on Con and pull him over toward her. "You can have the one who smells like a b*tch." She said with a grin, partly teasing of course.
Gannon paused with his hand in his back pocket, watching the girls and giving Con a look of disbelief. "What just happened here?" He asked with a grin, scanning each face then looking at the girl behind the desk for any help. The 'b*tch' comment was taken in stride and he took a step away from Con to give the girl clear reach and tackling space since she smelled fully of determination he wasn't getting in the way of... like dodging a train. The other girl whose suggestion it was to share earned a warmer smile and his relief was more than obvious. "That's very generous. I'll have to pay you back.. somehow," he said, giving her a more subtle wink, though his breaths were deeper and her scent taken in with a great deal of appreciation for more than just her kindness.
"Generous, hell. The girls just asked us to a party, dude," Con smiled, reaching an arm out for the one watching him. "I'm all set to put my party hat on," he suggested, meaning any number of things. He turned with a mocking pout at his brother. "Aww, but he's all tired from driving all day."

The woman behind the counter watched them for a moment and then just shrugged, smiling as the boys were pulled in by the girls. She pulled the sign in book toward her and closed it, putting it away under the counter.
Chloe smiled at Gan, shrugging one of her shoulders as if she hadn't totally played that one to her advantage, yeah she was generous. "Well you could start by being a gentleman and carrying my bag up to our room... and then.." Our room meaning the one she just offered to share with him, she picked up her keys off the desk and spun the ring around one finger. She licked her lips, letting her eyes run up and down him, his female was so not getting him back if he turned out to be as good as he smelled without her stink on him.
Logan slid into Con's offered arm and got her grip on him with one hand on his chest and the other slipping into his back pocket. "Hope you don't mind being my only guest.." She glanced at Gan and then gave Con a little lick on his neck. "..or tearing yourself away from him for a few days."
"Go ahead and tear me away. Tear anything you want," Con said at her ear, taking in her scent that was waking him up all over. She got a good grab on his ass and his hand covered hers in the pocket she'd slithered into, encouraging to hold on tight.
Gannon glanced to the floor, his hand fluffing at an itch behind his ear again. He'd missed his mark and the other two were dead on target with each other. He chuckled again as they snaked and twined into each other, reaching down for the pie he held out in exchange for the keys. "If you've got my pie, I've got your bag."
Chloe took his pie with a wink and a smile, she kept the keys in her hand but reached over with the other to wrap around his shoulders as she leaned to kiss him lightly. "You can have the rest when we get up to the room."
Logan was pleased with Con's answer and she gave him another lick before untangling just enough to grab her own bag to bring upstairs, not that she was planning to even think about clothes for at least a few days. "Ooo.. I already have ideas." She wrapped back around him, nipping lightly at his lips as she nudged him toward the stairs.
"You'll have to share all those ideas. I'll probably be up all night," Con teased as Logan pushed him along. He aimed a finger at Gannon, a little pistol shot at him and a wink before he slipped away with the girl whose name he hadn't even asked yet.
Gannon licked the kiss off his lip slowly. It tingled and tickled a little. He was paying every bit of attention to it and to her at the moment, though the movement caught his eye enough to turn and see his brother 'shoot' him. It was a sign that this one wasn't going to 'explode' like he thought the other girl might. He shook his head and chuckled. "Thank you for saving me from him. But... who's going to save you from me?"
"Oh.. I intend to keep you up all night and then some." Logan chuckled softly, her grin playful as she kept pushing him in the right direction, now and then giving him ecouragement with squeezes. or licks, or nips. It was a good thing their room wasn't too far away or she might end up tearing a few things in the hall.
Chloe giggled softly and shrugged. "Who said I need or want to be saved?" She asked him in return, her eyebrow arched up as she slowly started walking backward, trailing her hand over his arm and then curling her finger to beckon him to follow her further into the inn and up to the room.
He gathered their bags and followed, looking around the lobby, curious how the place seemed to be buzzing with activity he could sense throughout and smell occassionally on the drafts, but no one else seemed to be around except the desk clerk who hadn't even blushed or questionned what had just happened - like this was normal "'Night," he nodded to her, then caught up with Chloe and his pie.
Conneach turned and spun with her up the stairs and down the short distance of hallway, dropping his bag to the floor by their door. Before she'd gotten the key in the lock, he was tearing at a few things himself, walking his fingers over anything he could hold onto while she opened their door.

Chloe wasn't exactly waiting for him once he started moving, but he seemed to have no trouble catching up. She realized as she went down the hall tht she hadn't even asked his name! She glanced at Logan and the other guy, who seemed to be eager, and walked past them to another door. She bit her lower lip as she got the keys in the lock and the door open for Gannon to bring the bags inside. She didn't bother with the light, if he wanted it on he was welcome to flick the switch, instead she set the keys and pie on the dresser and went to the window to draw the curtain back part way and let the moonlight illuminate the room. She turned to face the room and sauntered her way back toward Gannon, both hands free now to run up his chest to his shoulders.
Gannon dropped both bags gently and reached back to close the door behind him, shutting out all but the moonlight that caught the silvery red shimmer of his eyes as he watched her. He reached for her hands to slide them up to his neck as he leaned down to kiss her softly. "Nice night. Kinda warm, isn't it?"
"Mmmm that it is.. but I'm hoping it gets very hot before it's over." She whispered, returning the kiss and sliding herself up against him. "Am I going to have to kick the crap out of whatever female was all over your shirt and not smart enough to hold onto you?"
He shook his head. "Just take it out on the shirt. We were at the club earlier and went for a sandwich, that's all. Took the pie, ditched the girl," he explained with a shrug. He was really indifferent about the girl who'd approached him earlier, but this one had his full attention. He tugged at the t-shirt to slip it off and send it over to top of his bag with the other one.
"Her loss... my gain." She moved her hand so he could take the tee off and leaned to lick his chest and up his neck to his ear where she nibbled a little. "I'm Chloe." She whispered as she trailed light kisses along his jaw and then claimed his mouth in a deep kiss as if it were her way of saying nice to meet you.
