She'd been topside for a few days already, claiming her city with the help of her army of minions and those she'd recruited since her rise. Alkonost smiled as her heels clicked on the tar of the road she strolled down. Her blond hair was lifted by warm breezes filled with the scents of fire, blood, flesh, and fear, her ears picked up the sounds of screams and other cries which delighted her and brought forth a sweet little giggle. She was a princess after all and what princess didn't love treats? Sure, a demon princess liked a different sort but she liked them just the same. Her eyes lifted to the sky above, the stars twinkled beyond the haze of smoke and the glow of the many fires which were blazing in the city. Her arms wrapped around her middle and her hands stroked over her silken skin up to her shoulders before spreading out to the air as she spun, laughing with unbriddled joy.
Across the expanse of the town, behind the rolling hills, a darkness grew, blotting out the starlight. The absence of the sparkle on the sky's fabric mirrored the growing darkness across the land below, flowing down the canyons from where he'd risen and where he now walked. Each step darkened the landscape, cooling the fires he approached and scorching the earth instead with the barren chill of shadows, cracking and splitting the fragile tarp of man-made mosaics of roadway and concrete, some that had liquified from the flames, but now turned into blackened glass beneath his touch. Some parts he toyed with, sculpting and shaping, mixing the blood of the frantic runners into the tiles he crafted, leaving the human remains to decorate his path. The path of fire led to one like him. He could smell the acrid and gorgeously destructive scent in the smoke around him and followed it, curious what creature dared to burn and scar his playground like this. He followed down the canyon, deeper into the city, bringing his cloud of shadows to further blot the light.
The fires responded to her joy, leaping higher and spreading out along the roads from her fingertips, licking around her legs beneath the black dress that hugged her curves and was split up one leg to her hip. The choker of dark stones sparkled around her throat as her laughter continued to spill out with an almost child like delight. She was enjoying her new toys and the playground that she had claimed as her own, the city was hers and all within it would worship her. She had no intention to quickly kill off the humans.. she had plans for those who survived these first few nights of chaos, though she didn't expect there to be many.
The flare of flames made his eyes narrow from the distinct shine, brighter than he usually lived with, but also with the intensity of determination. "You're ruining my fun," he muttered to himself, issuing forth a hissing sigh of icy fog that choked out another patch of flame. A few more steps cracked the earth into icy crags, rumbling the stones apart and crashing a few more relics of building down to rubble. His was no common earthquake familiar to the locals, but one of the cataclysmic variety, sheering the streets apart as he strode closer to the flames' source. Raziel was no longer pouting once he came closer to the center of the city. He was furious with the bright onslaught of light and heat that made his eyes tear and sting. "This city is mine! How dare you!?" He barked out at the laughing creature he approached, snuffing the flames in a path like a royal carpet laid before him.
If he hadn't been ruining her fun, she would have simply ignored him and continued having it, but she felt him trying to snuff out her beautiful fires and she lashed back with double the heat and intensity as before. Her laughter continued as the flames leapt higher and reached out further into the city, almost as if circling and slithering around him. As she turned to face him her eyes danced as if burning themselves and her hand set to her hip as she regarded him with a regal tilt of her chin. "This city is MINE. How dare -YOU-?" She hissed at him like the sizzle of fire around damp timber.
He regarded her with the same contempt she'd shown him - a remarkable creature if she wasn't as petulant as he was, he admitted to himself. He took another few steps forward, the ground reverberating beneath the footfalls, and her flames were sucked back into the ground's new fissures where it broke apart, dimming her flares and the angry brightness. "I dare, because I can. You won't win against me, so find another town. I'll say again - this one's mine."
She tossed her head back with a laughter full of genuine amusement, now both hands set on her hips as her gaze tilted back to regard this bold and arrogant beast. "I dare because I can.. you won't win against me, either.. and I have already claimed this city.. so it is you who should find another." Her flames rose as quickly as he tried to extinguish them, these were not normal fires that could be so easily put out, they would burn anywhere she wanted them to, even beneath the roaring waves of the ocean.
