Monday April 23, 2007 7 p.m. The shelter
Some mail that had been diverted and delayed getting to the displaced residents and faculty who were staying in the shelter arrived with a little bit of fanfare and a few surprises. Tim was one who'd stayed there to offer what help he could instead of going back to the comforts of his own home back East. He wasn't expecting this at all. Tapping the envelope he received against his hand, he wondered how comfortable home was now. Inside the package were two other envelopes and the letter from his mother. She was the only stable conduit in a string of strange events Tim had no idea how to interpret until he read the contents and he wasn't sure he wanted to.
He sat and pulled out the contents again and stared a bit blankly. Cass had never returned a birthday card before. He always sent one early. It wasn't even opened. Cass had gone home with her mom and uncle when the evacuation was announced and he wasn't sure where the card should be sent since the divorce and all. Their families had been friends since they were all in school together, though, and he thought for sure his mom could deliver the card for him. They'd all get together and talk and things would be just like home used to be.
Apparently she'd tried, she said in her note that was slipped in with the other pieces. "...Oh Matty, I'm so sorry I had to tell you like this about Cassie. You'll want to read Jason's letter, too. I don't know when you'll even get these. I'm sorry. Call home when you can, Love Mom."
Folded into her letter was the initial article with the announcements. Cassiopeaia Fleet-Reynolds, 17, and mother Meredith Fleet, former wife of Congressman Kevin Reynolds were involved in the fatal accident. Also involved in the accident and still listed in critical condition is reknowned musical instructor, children's author and radio personality, Jason Fleet. An investigation is underway. Congressman Reynolds was not immediately available for comment.
Of course he wasn't available and Jason's subsequent letter written from the hospital where he was recovering confirmed why Tim felt the boulder in his chest getting bigger and the rage with it. They'd come out here to be safe and try to live a normal life. It was the biggest mistake they could have made to leave and go back to Cambridge. Tim was devastated. His best friend was gone and what Jason's words told him hardly shocked him any worse. Officials were investigating the Congressman's involvement with the event and as soon as Jason was well enough to travel, he was due in court, though currently under heavy guard as a witness to an alleged conspiracy and hate crime. The only reason the note was in this envelope at all and not confiscated was thanks to Tim's own mother playing a part she hadn't in years as Jason's better half though she'd never said yes to marrying the man. What hit him the hardest were the last lines of the note from the man who was as much his own uncle as Cassie's. "Tell Drake. He doesn't know yet." Oh shit.
Savy wasnt living in the shelter area since she already had a room in the Coalition's head quarters that she'd resumed occupancy of. In a way she hated it, reminding her of when she'd been so sick for so long but to make room for those who needed it more, she returned to that room.
After coming home from a day of working at the new location which everyone would be moving to soon, Savy wandered down to the cafeteria to either help with dinner or just have some herself. Things were pretty quiet there and she wondered if she'd somehow missed dinner or if everyone was just too tired to gather for a meal. Not that there were that many people staying at the shelter...
Savy turned and spotted a young man sitting alone at a table, he looked deep in thought and troubled. Savy wasn't the sort of person who could ignore something like that and so she slowly walked over to where the guy was. "Hey.." She said softly, nearly reaching out to put her hand over his but stopping short, he didn't know her. "Are you alright?" Okay it was a lame thing to say when the look on his face said he wasn't but it was an opening and a chance for him to tell her to bug off. Her blue eyes stared out warmly at him, bright against her long dark hair and her light tan.

Tim heard someone close by and pulled his thoughts to the here-and-now, trying to choose his words carefully and not snap at the greeting. The girl had no idea what he held in his hand. He wasn't sure how wise it was for anyone to know most of it. He blinked back some of the shock and managed a meager smile, about a much as he normally offered. "Hi, no I'm fine. Just... some bad news from back home. Would you like to sit down?" An empath would have a field day with him right now and a telepath would call him a liar flat-out. He was anything but fine, but it had been so long since he'd cried, he'd forgotten how.

Savy nodded slowly and watched the boy for another moment before folding down into a chair next to him at the table. He really didn't look fine and she smiled softly at him, whatever the news was it had shaken him up. "Yeah.. bad news.. I know how that goes.." Her voice was quiet as if not to disturb him too much with the sound. "I'm Savy." She offered him her hand, attempting to reach out to him with more than that, to make a connection.. he seemed so.. lost. He had a sweet face and maybe part of it was just knowing he was upset and the kindness of his face making her want to somehow ease him.
"Savy?" Tim questioned it like it was some other language she was speaking. He looked at the hand... solid, human, real... He chuckled and looked up at her, reaching out kindly with a gentle grasp. If it weren't safe, she wouldn't have offered it in the first place, unlike a new student at the school might, not knowing the strength of any power they possessed. "Sorry. I'm just really distracted. I'm Tim. Kind of you to ask. Do you ... I almost asked if you live here... I sort of do at the moment. Do you work here?"
"Yeah Savy.. it's a nickname.. short for Savannah." She blushed a bit and seemed kind of shy for the moment she explained. "Savannah Melody.." She shrugged and took a deep breath flashing a brief but warm smile. "Yeah.. I do live here actually.. and work here.. "
"Melody? You're related to Mrs Larson? I could see that.. the eyes. Nice to meet you." Tim smiled weakly. Could he be more bland and listless? Inwardly he groaned. Talking with breathing humans took a knack he didn't use often when he mostly dealt with apparitions and entities, or Luke who didn't talk like normal humans either. "Alright, I lied. I'm sorry. I'm really not fine," he said now, looking up with a quiver of his lip he couldn't control. He flapped the envelope in his hand again and looked back down at it blankly, turning it in his fingers, not sure what to do. "I really appreciate the company, thanks. I ... whooof... I uh... just lost a really good friend and it's not really sunk in yet."
"Mrs Larson.. yeah.. that's still weird for me." She started and then faded away listening to him as he explained what was wrong with him. "Oh.. I'm so sorry." She shifted closer to him, wanting to comfort him. It was just part of her nature to be compassionate to others and he was obviously hurting even if he didn't yet realize it fully. She reached out to put her hand on his arm. "Do.. you want to talk about it at all? I mean if you don't it's alright.. I am a stranger and all, but I am a pretty good listener and sometimes it's easier to talk to someone you don't know.. kind of like the bartender.."
The shoulder had seemed a lot more sensitive lately since the evacuation, possibly with so many people he'd come to know who were now suddenly gone... too many. They'd all been clamboring to him, needing reassurance and guidance to help them understand that they were no longer living. He had a pile of his own mail to deliver soon, too - all of their messages he'd channeled and drawn, some angry, some scared, some simply lost and tearful. Tim tried to hide the wince as the shoulder was touched. She didn't know about that either. He gently took her hand in his, trying to make it seem like a natural movement to thank her for her trouble, and worked on a genuine smile for her. "You know, that would be great. Actually..," he seemed torn with the suggestion, but he needed to do something, maybe go someplace else for a little while. "Can you drink? I don't much, but I think I need to make an exception right now. Is there a place we could go near here?" Yeah, he really needed that drink this time and the company was kind and warm which he needed even more.

"A different part of the building... if you don't mind staying here.. umm.. my room. It's.. I have a little something there.. Unless you'd rather go out?" It had been a long time since she'd interacted with people who were her peers rather than doctors, family, or associates in the Co. Being sick for so long sucked.. more than she realized during the illness. Her hand curled and held his, she sensed the pain and gently brought her other hand up to his shoulder. Behind her glasses her eyes sparkled a brighter blue and he'd feel a soothing warm spread from where her hand rested. "I'm sorry.. I didn't realize.." She nodded to his arm where she'd touched him before and caused the discomfort.
He smiled as her eyes sparkled. "You're a healer? Thanks. It's not that bad, just overworked lately," he said, enjoying the warmth on the spot that was almost always cold. He was usually wearing a coat even inside. He wished he had it on now, feeling cold all over as the news in his mind trickled through his thoughts. Cassie was gone and her own brother didn't even know? How could their uncle think that was even possible? How was he supposed to deliver a message like that? "Out, if it's all the same. I kinda need to be around people I think, someplace warm and... well don't take this wrong, but normal... just too much here going on."
"Yeah, surprise." She chuckled softly about being a healer, she kept the warmth on his shoulder sensing he needed it and maybe enjoyed it a little, even if he said his shoulder wasn't so bad. "Out?" She really wished he'd said he was fine staying in. "Okay.. um.. I don't really know anyplace normal.. I guess we'll find something." She smiled for him and looked around biting her lower lip. "Um.. I have to find.. someone to tell them I'm going out.."
That was different. Maybe it was because her gifts were working on him at that moment, but Tim felt the reluctance. Going and getting hammered probably didn't look good in the dean's eyes or those of the people letting him and the others stay here anyway. Maybe staying put was smarter. Who knew what could happen at any moment, so maybe they should just stay. "You know what, it's kinda late already since we don't know where to go or anything. We can stay here if that offer is still open?"
"What? Um.. okay.." She seemed confused or surprised maybe when he changed his mind but the relief washed over her a moment later and she smiled more brightly. "Yes, of course it is.. my room is not in this section of the building. So um.. anytime you're ready I can show you the way.. " She reached to tuck a long strand of hair back behind her ear and slowly rubbed the heat from her other hand into his shoulder where it usually ached.
Tim looked around the room. He probably should beg off from doing any more tonight and relax. He'd be too much of a hazard in his current state and he needed to figure out a way to get a hold of Drake and tell him... He sighed. "Um... ready," he shrugged. He rolled his shoulder again more than he'd been able to in some time. No pain? He put his hand up to feel where his dark entity friend seemed to enjoy ripping it apart again and again. It felt more joined and comfortable than it had in two years, since the first time Richie looked at it after Danny had dragged him back in pieces from the muddy beach by the lake. His hand dropped back down to the envelope in his lap. Danny was gone. Diana was gone. Now Cassie and her mom, too. Tim looked a little more lost as he gave Savy a slight smile. "More than ready. Thank you. Feels a lot better, but I'm still pretty useless here tonight. Hopefully I make a better guest than a custodian tonight. How are you on weak knees and broken hearts?"
Savy felt for him, nearly literally as she leaned a little closer and brushed a soft kiss across his cheek. "I have a little experience with that.. unfortunately." She smiled, replacing her lips with the gentle touch of her fingers. "Come on.. I'll do my best." She reached for his hand with her other, to guide him up and out toward her room. He needed someone to take care of him tonight and she silently promised him she'd do her best to make things feel better.
"Just about everyone here does have some first-hand experience, I'm thinking," Tim agreed as he took her hand to follow, feeling more a victim to gravity than ever before when his legs just didn't want to work. He made sure he had all the contents of his package, especially Jason's letter, and tried his feet to see if they would carry him more than a few steps. "Wow, sorry. The news just took a little more out of me than I thought. If I ... um.. well here. Is this okay?" He didn't want to trip and hopefully she didn't mind the suggestion of his hand leaving hers in favor of putting his arm around her waist instead, not intending to lean too much.

"Sure, that's fine." She smiled softly, shifting her arm around him and letting her hand rest against his hip. "It's this way." She led him out of the cafeteria and away from where the rooms where he and the other displaced folks had been set up. "Is the elevator good for you? I'm on a different floor."
"Are you?" The question seemed strange once he'd said it, but when dealing with things most people couldn't see, or were afraid to, it seemed to make sense for a moment. She didn't mean 'floor' like some of his clients did. She was here beside him, very real and fabulously alive, he reminded himself. He chuckled. "You're going to think I'm crazy. The elevator's fine. Thank you."
"Why would I think you're crazy?" She smiled at him as she used her free hand to press the button for the elevator, the doors slid open and she stepped with him into the big box. Savy had to slide her card through the slot before she pressed her floor, giving her clearance to go to that part of the building. "Believe me when I say I doubt you could say anything to make me think you're crazy."
Tim grinned, watching her slide her access card in. "A special floor, no less. Guess you don't have many visitors. I'm honored to have the privlege. Believe when I say I've heard that before, but there's always hope. No one's ever been murdered on your floor, have they?" His grin went slowly flat as the thought came to him of visitors that paid little attention to barriers like access codes.
"Umm not that I'm aware of.. it's sort of a special.. private floor. I had to live there for two years. I wasn't able to leave so.. well they kind of made it nice as they could.. We won't be bothered there." She wasn't sure if that was going to make him feel less.. "Why did you ask if anyone was murdered there?"
"To ensure we're... I'm not bothered there. Tortured souls usually have the most to say, screaming, hoping for someone to listen." His grin returned along with a bit of a blush. "Lucky me, I happen to be a good listener."
"Oh.. so.. don't take this wrong, but I don't have much to compare it to.. you talk to dead people?" She asked as the elevator eased to a stop, the doors slid open to a very empty hall. "Home sweet home." She murmured with a small, almost sad smile. It was actually really nice, like her own large apartment with everything she could need and some extras.. but she'd been trapped there for a long time and sometimes it got very lonely.

Tim nodded slightly. "They talk... a lot... and I listen. For those who can't speak the way they want... I draw for them, become their tool to come back in some way to what's familiar to them. Dead people... not just people," he sighed a little, pushing the topic out of the way a moment as he tottered along beside her into the expanse of her 'room'. "This is pretty classy. Nice."
"Yeah.. thanks." The doors to the elevator slid shut and then another set slid in front to seal off the shaft when the elevator moved again. "Here, you want to sit on the couch?" She led him in and he'd see she had a full set up and alot of things to keep a person quietly entertained for a long time. "I'll give you the tour later, but the bathrrom is through there." She pointed out that ever important room.
He laughed and acknowledged the gestures, taking advantage of the offered couch first as he set himself down to ease the shaking that was working up through him. He was feeling like he was a moment away from collapsing into ... something he couldn't define from the numbness. "If you'll sit with me?" He looked up, hopeful that he hadn't run her off yet.
"Sure will." Savy smiled again, reaching to cup his cheek in her hand. "Do you want something to drink? Did you eat yet.. you probably don't feel like much but i have crackers or i can make some toast?" She set one knee on the couch next to him, not sitting yet as she fretted over him a little.
"I'd love a drink. Just promise you won't turn me in. Pretend it's really November," he said, shyly admitting that despite his demeanor, he wasn't really old enough yet, not that that had stopped him or Drake any time he could remember.
She blushed and chewed her lip, leaning down to whisper to his ear. "I promise if you promise.. and since my birthday is in October, pretending it's November will work out for both of us."
The attention at his ear woke senses from the numbness, sending a chill that made him visibly shiver and chuckle. "That... mm.. I wasn't expecting that." he smiled, turning to face her a bit, reaching up for her.
"Oops?" She bit her lower lip and then let a small smile peek out at him as he reached for her. Her hands moved to rest gently on his arms for balance as she shifted down a little closer.
"Don't apologize. It wasn't a bad thing at all. It's almost as dizzying as that drink we were talking about... and somehow not quite as likely to get us in trouble." His eyebrow shifted a moment later, "Then again..."

He was adorably cute when he half smiled and the way his eyebrow shifted. Was he encouraging her? It felt like he was and it also felt like she was drawn to him, that he needed her, needed the closeness. She leaned in to place a soft kiss to his mouth. The kiss was soft and exactly the trigger he needed to feel. Though he sought the closeness, something real and 'now', his eyes closed gently over the welling trickles that worked their way loose and pulled his lip into a quiver. "Thank you," he murmured, turning away a little to wipe away the tears.
Savy didn't say anything but shifted down on the couch to sit next to him and gently embraced him, curling around him to offer what comfort she could if he would allow her to.
He laughed at himself and scolded himself for seeming so easily broken, curling down to try and hold the feelings down and contained. "It's one thing when they're ones you don't know.. how easy it is to be brave and smart, but when it's this close.... you know?" He sniffled and smiled at the same time, rubbing the heal of his hand past his eyes again with one hand and holding her arm with the other, rubbing gently. He chuckled again and sat back with her, curling back into her embrace. What was the matter with him? He looked over the amazing girl beside him, almost certain he could hear and feel her in the way he felt things about creatures that were so far removed from life, nowhere near where they were right now. "Are you sure I'm not crazy?"
She did know, she'd lost her mother and it had devestated her, then more recently Milo who was like a second dad to her and Erin who was like a sister.. yeah she knew all too well. Savy suddenly felt her own eyes well up and she did her best to blink back the tears. "I'm sure.. you're not crazy at all." She reassured him with another soft smile, shifting to offer him a shoulder if her decided he wanted to curl more deeply into her embrace.
Her eyes were such a brilliant blue, the tears made them shine and nearly glow. They were so stark and stunning it took him a moment to realize he was staring intently into them, lost in his thoughts about them and her, the half-grin beaming back as his thumb stroked her arm. He sank deeper into the cushions of this couch in this room alone with a girl who didn't need him to say anything and didn't need him to say anything for her... no messages, no drawings... just shared moments that needed no explanations. None except maybe one... had she kissed him because she was trying to help him feel better, or because of something more? Could he hope? "Savy... it might not be the best idea, but I would really like to share a few drinks with you. Please?"
Once she'd blinked the blur of tears away to see through them she held his gaze for a few long moments until he sank deeper into the couch. Her fingers were light against his cheek as she nodded to his request for the drinks though she wasn't sure she wanted to spend the time away from him to get them. He was so.. there was just something about him. "What do you like? I have a variety.. not a huge one but.. some different things. A bunch of those downhome punch things and some hard stuff."
"Down home... sounds kind of inviting and reassuring, doesn't it? Like everything's normal and right where it should be? I think I like the sound of that," he decided, though letting her move away to get it was another matter. "Also sounds less like I'm going to get myself in a heap of trouble for what I'm thinking than saying 'the harder the better', doesn't it?"
It took a moment for the meaning or one that could be taken of his comment to register and then she chuckled softly. "Alright.. how about, I just bring some of both and we can work our way up to the hard stuff.. if we feel like it, that is.." She cleared her throat, watching his eyes as they looked at her, she couldn't help the shy soft smile that shone for him. Her fingers reached up to rest against his cheek and for a moment she forgot all about getting up to get their drinks.

*************************
Once the hesitation to start had passed, Tim found a strangely welcome but empty comfort in the numbness the drink provided. The two had started into the slightly stronger bottle and he'd started to form stronger images in his mind of everything he was trying to erase. He needed to forget, just for a while, and needed a distraction different from the alcohol. Savy held his attention more with each breath and each small blush or laugh, or beautiful expression when she would stay silent for long moments, watching him in return. His mind tumbled over what he felt the silence meant or what thoughts she might have. For once he knew absolutely nothing. He wasn't barraged with information clamboring to get out into the world. He actually needed to ask. The glass left his hand, gently set down to the table and his fingers propped up his head that tilted with curiosity as if it tried to pour out instead. "If I asked you ... what you're thinking, would you tell me?"
Her blue eyes seemed to sparkle brighter for a moment as her smile shifted playfully and she tipped her head to match his. She left her glass on the table for now, nearly forgotten as he captured her attention once again. "I might.. I suppose it would depend on when you asked me and what I was thinking in that moment.. like just now.. for instance.. I was thinking how much I like your mouth."
Half an hour before, he'd have said nothing, or perhaps changed the subject, but he'd asked and she'd told him truthfully. On some level, even with the living, he could sense honesty. Tim chuckled a little, curling his mouth into the crooked smile she knew well by now. It had seemed transfixed since they'd come to her room. "Is there a problem with it?" His eyebrow twitched again, begging a challenge as he inquired. "You like it how? Like this?" He widened the smile more on purpose, then drew it tightly into a round pucker that blew her a small kiss before the smile returned and he laughed. "Or like this?"
"Ooo.. do I have to pick just one? I like them all.. though I might be interested in that middle one.. maybe you could show me that one again.. a little closer?" Her own eyebrow arched in a bit of a different challenge as she reached over to run her finger lightly over his lips. "I just like it." She said more softly, more sincerely.
He laughed again and reached for his drink, watching her expressions change. "Which one was that?" He asked and took a large sip this time, letting it linger in his mouth that made the pucker as before but this time because the liquid still burned and chilled him at once.
Okay so he didn't want to kiss her.. or he was playing hard to get.. she wasn't sure what sort of emotions were coming off of him. She wasn't as in tune with humans as some others with similar gifts. "It was sort of like that but nicer.. " She shrugged and reached for her own glass, taking a hardy drink to wash the rejection down and play it off like it didn't bother her.
He nodded, trying not to spit out the liquid. Finally swallowing it down, he coughed a little and his face slipped into a fleeting shade of red as he caught his breath, only to chuckle again. "I'm sorry. Remind me... not to do that again. Not when I should be doing this instead," he said, foregoing the heat in the glass to crawl back closer with the quirky, rolled up pucker. "I've numbed too much, but I think I understand."
Savy wasn't sure what to think as he moved again, but his expression made her giggle softly. "You're so cute.." She admired him as she set her glass back down and leaned toward him. "So.. cute.." She sort of sighed it out and then chanced at trying to kiss him, hoping he wouldn't shove her away.
He stayed still, meeting the small kiss at first, hoping he didn't tumble into her or crack a tooth as he tottered against the creeping numbness. The sensation tickled enough to feel and leave him stunned briefly. The pucker stayed, curling up more as if to say 'ooo, that was nice' although he couldn't get any words to come out. Tim reached out to stead himself against her shoulder and brought a kiss for her in return.
He liked it! The thrill shot through her with an excited charge that nearly bounced her out of her seat, yet she managed to keep it to a slight squirm which actually worked out well as he came in for another kiss. She wasn't rock solid as he tried to steady himself and it sort of pushed her back against the couch, but that was sort of nice. Savy reached to hold onto him and bring him closer as she tried to make this kiss last longer. Mmmm yeah, she definitely liked his mouth.

The alcohol was beginning to overpower his ability to work against gravity altogether. He leaned to her and she fell back, and he fell quicker than he'd anticipated. Interesting - she encouraged his demise, bringing him to hover and nearly lay on top of her as he met her sweet kiss again. Tim chuckled quietly as the room spun, but he wasn't sure that was to blame for this brand of dizzy that buzzed in his head and on his tongue as he brushed her lip lightly.
She was in the clouds, floating happily as he stayed to kiss her and didn't pull away and the feel of his mouth against hers was so 'mmm'. She heard him chuckle and wondered a moment about what he found so amusing but those thoughts didn't linger for long. The world melted away leaving only them slowly tangling together in the midst of the sweetest kisses she'd ever tasted. Savy felt his tongue brush her lip and she gasped softly, then reached after it with hers. The alcohol had certainly relaxed her but she knew what she was feeling - for the most part - had nothing to do with having a little too much to drink.
"Savy, I have a confession," he muttered, playing after her tongue and trying to find a way he wasn't going to simply sprawl over her if the hand propped behind gave out with the numbness creeping through him.
"A confession?" She asked softly, reaching to run one finger lightly over his jaw. She was curious as to what he might have to tell her though the gentle way he teased at her tongue was distracting the heck out of her.
"You're beautiful and I wanted you to know that before I'm too stupid to think or talk. Although, not talking is ... very nice," he chuckled again, shifting a little more to prop himself up and peer down into her eyes, mesmerized by her.
".... I .." Her mouth opened to speak but his confession stole her words away for a moment, her smile twitched shyly as she gazed up at him. She wondered how anyone this sweet and handsome hadn't been scooped up by some lucky girl already? She felt like she'd always imagined the princess in fairy tales had when prince charming scooped them up. "Would you think I was silly if I told you, I thought you were beautiful too?"
"Of course I would because I'm not," he said shyly, backing away only a little, but still grinning. "But, I believe that you believe it. Thank you. And silly makes you even prettier," he admitted, giving out on his hand and laughing as he settled down on top of her. "Terribly sorry, but if you don't mind, I'm sure I don't."
She giggled softly at both his comments and when he settled down over her, he was even nicer up close. "You are too." She whispered to him, gently wrapping one arm around his shoulders. "Hmm I don't mind.. this is.. nice.. and you're closer. I can kiss you more... if you don't mind?" Her eyebrow arched up as she teased him a bit.
"I don't mind as long as you don't let me do anything harmful... like drool on you. I'm sorry.. I'm really not used to drinking this much," he sighed and chuckled at once, turning a little into the couch to snuggle beside her more.
"Eh, a little drool wont hurt me." She giggled again, shifting slightly to give him more room to be comfortable with her. "You know.. I'm glad to hear you're not used to drinking like this.. means you don't do it often. Me either.. I mean sure a little now and then but never been one of those party on the weekend types."
"Maybe we should both start. Beyond the occasional game of pool, I really haven't had a lot of fun," Tim admitted, realizing just how much he'd put into listening to the spirits, helping them, helping other students and spending so little time for himself like this. The reason he'd come to her room weighed on him still despite the drinks and pulled his face straight and sad for a moment. "There's a lot I don't do often enough it seems."
"Maybe we could work on that together? If you think you could stand my company.. you know at least once a week.. if not more often. I mean... well I guess I meant just what I said. I wouldn't mind hanging out with you.. I'd really like it." She smiled and it alternated between warm and shy, her blue eyes tracing over his face a little.
"When I -can- stand? Sure. I think I really like that idea," he said, trying to maneuver his arm behind her. "I'll need the moral support at the very least when I talk to Drake."
Her mouth turned down in a frown and a slow soft sigh released out, she shifted to help him as he tried to get his arm behind her. "Of course.. I would.." She didn't know what to say or how to comfort him though she really wanted to. She gently set her head on his shoulder and curled her arm up behind his, resting her hand on the back of his shoulder. "I will.. then.. now, if you want me to."
"If it's just like this? Yes, please. I think I could handle just about anything like this," he said softly, sifting the hair over her shoulder by his hand. "Consider this practice. Who's the tutor, me or you?"
"Both of us.. we can teach each other and learn together." She replied softly, feeling a small smile curl up her lips despite the sadness she felt for his loss. She closed her eyes for a moment, feeling his fingers running through her hair as he moved it over her shoulder.
"I like that idea too," he said, yawning slightly and fighting the pleasant numbness. He felt like he was floating himself. "This must be how they feel, if they do feel," he muttered, closing his eyes as well.
She stayed quietly where she was snuggled up to him, she had no idea what to say or do at this point, she had no words to reply to his comments. Not a single word came to her even though she lay there for awhile trying very hard to find something to say. She glanced up to see his eyes had closed and she wondered if he was merely falling asleep on her anyway.
