July 30, 2007 11pm Telus Park
While her sister went into town to visit her human boyfriend, Jaime was left to entertain herself and as the night went on she wandered into the park. Humans didn't come here often at night and so she skipped along undisturbed, her giggle peeling out as she spotted the swings. She jogged, practically floating over to take a seat on one of them, she started swinging lightly, her eyes closing as she enjoyed the sensation of the light breeze against her skin. Her mother had raised them in the forest and usually wore scant clothing, a practice she and her sister had adopted as well. Jaime's legs looked nearly bare as her flippy little skirt was very short.
"Dinnertime," he sighed quietly, looking at the edges of the empty park. Darn humans and their mortal fears, enacting a curfew like this. How was anyone supposed to hunt if the prey was in watching reality tv because the cops didn't want them on the street playing at night anymore? Essex had actually kept his human form out of spite, hoping one of the wayward park guards might mistake him for a rebel school boy.. at least mistake him for a human one. The tougher, thicker uniformed variety were chewy like jerky and kept him entertained with their attempts to fight him off. Not tonight. He rounded a corner by the childrens' park, thinking a spin on the mini-go-round under the stars would make him at least too dizzy to think about food as much. The sound caught him first, though and he stopped, looking deeper across the damp lawn to the playground shadows. A creaking of chain and the light clinking of the links at the top was familiar enough. Someone had just gotten on a swing. He approached cautiously until close enough to see the form wasn't at all a ghost and definitely not a guard. Sinking his teeth in, however, was definitely a thought as he surveyed the length of creamy cool female flesh and the barely-there outfit that covered her. He grinned and looked around him. "No... it can't be that easy. Who is she with?" He spoke to himself in the softest of whispers, cut off but the change in the breeze that brought her scent to him. Forget the spin on the toys, he'd rather take her for one. Her back was to him, but if he smelled her, it was likely she could smell him too, or would soon enough. Essex took the opportunity to run up behind to push her swing up high like he was back in gradeschool, clearing under her with a grab of her tiny shoe. "You want it back? Catch me!" He dove and rolled, then darted across the lawn slowly at first, wondering if she'd pursue.
She heard his movements but he was pushing her swing up and running beneath it before she could turn on him and the scent that filled the air made her want to play with him rather than tear him apart. Her laughter was delighted as it rang out and she wooshed through the air, her blond ponytail blowing wildly. She waited till the momentum of the swing brought her up again and she jumped off at the highest part of the arch, sailing through the air toward the male with her shoe. Jaime landed in a crouch, pulling her other shoe off and keeping it in her hand as she lauched herself into a run after the teasing and tastey looking shoe thief.
She was quick on her feet and he sped up, launching over the hedges that lined the walkways and over a bench or two like common small hurdles. She was in pursuit alright, but did he really want to outrun her or be caught? He laughed and bounced up and over a parked car. Let her earn it, he thought, the playfullness coating his scent with the underlying desire to tackle or be tackled.
It wasn't really the shoe she wanted to catch, she could always get another and it was rare that she wore them anyway. She was petite like her mother but with the physical strength of her father and the gifts of both parents in her. Her speed was impressive and she was quickly closing the gap from the head start he'd gotten, she also made very little noise as she ran or when she landed after leaping effortlessly over the obsticales in her path. It was as if her feet barely touched the ground and she took in his scent with each breath as she followed him. She jumped over the parked car as easily as she had the benches, not even coming close to touching the hunk of metal, glass, and rubber.
Essex took a jog to the right, toward the road that might have traffic. It didn't pay to be stupid, but there was always fun in the shock value of scaring the random human driver. Wait for it... Now! He heard the lone car approaching, darting at just the right moment to leap and pound the roof with his heel as he bolted over the road. The car's tires screeched with the swerve and sudden stop, but he kept moving.
She giggled from behind him, watching his stunt with the car, she'd almost been close enough to tackle him as he waited for the right moment, but then he leapt. "Show off!" She sounded amused and was sure he would hear her as she followed him, leaping across the road and darting into the trees. The driver would likely wonder what they had seen, she was there and gone so fast.
Into the trees ahead of her, he'd jumped up to rebound off one trunk and push himself higher off the ground to grasp a branch of another tree and swing himself up where he stopped, perched in the fork of the branches to admire the scent from the treasure he'd stolen and wait briefly for its owner to find him.

Jaime skidded to a stop as the trail of his scent ended, she sniffed the air and turned scanning the darkness around her. After a moment her gaze went up and she smiled, seeing his form in the fork of the branches. She didn't have to push herself off anything, thanks to her mother, she simply vaulted herself up and swung to land lightly on a nearby branch. She perched and peered over at him, her eyes shining brightly with amusement a second before she lunged at him, there was no growl only a giggle, showing her intent was not a full on attack.
He tipped his head at the expression and the change in her scent and her sound. Essex reached his arms out to catch her. "Awww... you caught me," he said, though apparently he more or less caught her.
She landed lightly against him and in his arms though without the force needed to knock him from his perch. "Of course I did, you stayed still." She giggled again and inhaled his scent deeply right from the source, sighing softly with her appreciation of it. "You still owe me a shoe."
"Mmm... what will you give me for it?" It was within reach and with that sort of agility, she could take it without much of a fight. He wrapped his arms around her, appreciative of the softness of her curves and her scent after their run.
Her head tipped to the side, her expression was soft and sweetly innocent for a moment. "Aren't I enough?" She asked, indicating how he had wrapped his arms around her and she appeared to be in his clutches.
"I guess that's worth a shoe," he sighed, rolling his eyes, still full of playful tease. "I haven't seen you in the park before. New here?"
She reached to grab her shoe out of his hand, pouting a little though it was to tease him back for his comment. "New compared to some who have been here longer." She shrugged her slender shoulders and let her gaze move over his face. "I was born here."
He laughed, surrendering her shoe. "In the park? Damn I miss all the cool stuff. You're no puppy, though. Mmm... not...at... all."
"In the forest near the park." She smiled a little at his observation that she was not a puppy though he wasn't exactly correct, she was still quite young for her kind on either side of her parentage. Her mother's kind matured quickly and then remained in that visage always.
Essex shrugged a little, "Forest, park... outdoorsy kid either way, huh? Nice. Definitely. What's your name?"
"Yes, outdoorsy.." She giggled softly as she said that word, deiding it was a funny sounding word. "My name is Jaime, what is yours?"
"Essex," he said, wondering if she'd laugh. Hers was pretty and fun like the girl who wore it. He nodded. "Jaime. I like it."
She didn't laugh at his name and seemed to shine a little brighter as he said he liked her name. "Essex.. Essy." She bit her lower lip, dubbing him something a little different and cuter than the name he'd told her.
"I like that, too," he smiled. "You like nursery rhymes? You remember one about two little kids sitting in a tree?"
She shook her head lightly to tell him she didn't know what he was talking about. "I don't know any nursery rhymes." She pouted a little and shifted one arm up around his shoulder. "Will you teach it to me?"

"None? Well that's a damn shame. What are you gonna rock my kids to sleep with at night, then? Cuz see, the one I was thinking goes like this. Jaime and ... Essy... sittin' a tree... k..i..s..s..i..n..g...," he said, slowly telling her the rest of the kid's song with a small bit of rap flair to it, though his beat-boxing was a little rusty. He laughed as he finished the verses he knew, all two of them and wiped his mouth off. "Or something like that."
Her head was tilted to the side as he first asked how she would rock his kids to sleep and then as he sang the rhyme for her. Her expression was soft, sweetly curious again, her eyes sparkling with delight at the images that danced in her head. "Your kids? You have children.... or you wish me to bear yours?"
He laughed and looked around the area. If Carrick heard him right now, he'd slap the snot right out of his snout for even considering the idea. Clucking his tongue in his cheek, he shook his head. "Nope, no kids yet, but you got me thinking about it. You got your shoe... and I seem have gotten you. Maybe I want to keep you. Hope that's not a problem."
"Oh.." She gave him a shy smile and leaned to kiss him softly. "I like you." She told him plainly, her honesty easily seen in her eyes and picked up in her scent. She thought about what he said about keeping her and comparing it to her mother who kept the lost, she nodded in agreement. "You may keep me." She smiled again, her eyes gently moving over his face. "Keeping.. but not .. forcing?"
He looked shocked, feigning insult even. "No, just keeping. Keeping overnight, keeping in cute dresses like that one... out of dresses like that one... Does your mother know where you are?"
"I'm sorry.. I did not mean to offend you." She pouted a little, her gaze turning down to the forest floor. "She knows I am around, but she is not near and she will find me should I lose my way.. she will not worry."
He pulled his hand around to flick her chin up gently with a fingertip. "Hey. I'm not offended. I was teasing you. See? I'm fine," he grinned, sorry he'd made her smile disappear so easily. "I was just being an ass. Speaking of, this branch is starting to stick up mine and I think we should get down and go someplace ... more den-like."
She gazed at him when he lifted her chin, her green eyes like stormy seas. "I shouldn't have asked you such a thing.. but I only know what I have learned and.. " She shrugged and pushed a small smile to her lips for him, not sure if telling him why she asked really mattered. "We can get down if you like.. do you have somewhere more den like?"
"Mostly. If you don't mind my pack brothers possibly wandering in to steal my o.j. I've got a room with a door that locks at least. Sound good?" He was starting to wiggle and work his way toward jumping down carefully.
"Do you have many brothers? There was only my sister and I from.. the one like you.. though I do have other brothers and sisters. They are not like us.. not wolves." She didn't mind his family, she was actually curious since he was the first male wolf she'd met. She had caught their scent before and observed once or twice but had kept herself away from them. She stepped backward off the branch and let herself fall to the ground, her landing was gentle and there was no thump that normally would be heard when someone came down from that height.

Essex wasn't as graceful or quiet, but he landed strongly as if ready and wary, a bit of crouch as he listened and smelled the air around them now that they were vulnerable on the ground again. He stood slowly, taking her in fully in his senses as she waited. "One who was born my brother and several who have come into the family. More who've left... one way or another," he grinned weakly, thankful he wasn't one on Marc's shit list, or stupid like the ones who'd fallen prey to the hunters.
"Oh.. your family is different." She wasn't sure she fully understood but she seemed to get the basic idea from what he told her. Jaime watched him, her smile shining out more genuinely as she held her hands out to him. She took a step toward him, she enjoyed his company so far and his scent made her want to be closer to him. "I do not know much about families who are all wolves."
"You're about to find out. It's back that way, through the park and uptown a little ways. Probably not at all like the green, leafy home you're used to. We don't even have houseplants," he explained, looking around the trees he'd learned to appreciate.
"You live in a house?" She giggled softly, that was something different and again she felt her curiosity bubble up, she had assumed being a wolf they would prefer to live outside. "Alright.. show me." She was more than willing to go off with him and didn't seem to be afraid of him, though their was some caution about the others she had not met.
"Uh.. apartment, actually, but they call them houseplants in apartments too," he explained, curious about her knowledge of other things and whether he assumed too much about the wildness in her scent. She didn't seem to him to be naive, just different. She mentioned others in her family weren't wolves, so what were they? "Me and a couple of the boys stay there - sometimes, anyway. We're really not home all that much but our Alpha likes us to stay kinda central, close to his upper paw."
"Alpha is the leader, yes? He is the one in charge.." She bit at her lip hoping that she would not put him off with her questions. "Sort of like a father.. but for your pack. We do not have that.." She explained, wanting to tell him more about herself as well but not so much as to make him not want to keep her. "Does this Alpha live with you or just nearby?"
"He likes to think he's in charge," he smirked, starting to walk back toward the park with her close to his shoulder. "But yeah, he's kinda our dad, really like a sort of drill sergeant. Dad's are supposed to be warm and fun and play ball with you, but Marc's not really like that too much that I've seen. I mean hell, I thought he was gay or something until I saw the hot chic he picked up. But, no, I don't live with them."
"I don't have a father.. or rather I don't know my father.. so I do not know how they are supposed to be.. He forced my mother." She explained a little more about herself and probably shed some light on her earlier question.
He was silent in his thoughts for a moment as she explained that. Did he say he was sorry, or what? He wasn't sorry she was here now. If her dad hadn't done it, she wouldn't be here, but her mom must had a lot to suffer through to get them here. He nodded finally and squeezed her hand gently. "Sounds like it was a tough time for her, but I guess she's pretty strong.. like you?"
Jaime looked down at their hands, her smile soft and wondering as he squeezed her hand in a form of reassurance and comfort. "She is very strong, but she is very gentle. We were much easier than the siblings that the dark one fathered.. though when the wolf tried to come for us, he scared him away."

Essex was confused now. Which wolf was she talking about? Her dad or a different one? "Yeah sibs can be a b*tch sometimes for everybody, huh?" He understood that part completely. "I guess I'm missing something. What dark one was that? And which wolf? I thought the wolf was your dad."
"The wolf was my father.. the dark one.. Raziel.." She whispered his name, glancing around and half expecting him to suddenly appear, her eyes showed the slightest shimmer of fear. "He also.. took my mother.. and fathered children with her.. but I don't believe he liked that the wolf forced her or had her at all.. " She tried to explain it more clearly, her eyes glancing around as if speaking of Raziel would bring him forth. "My father the wolf tried to come take us from our mother but was chased away by Raziel."
"Ra-..? Uhum.. yeah okay. 'That' dark one. I think I get it now. Never met him and hope I don't, but yeah, I hear he's pretty funky scary, like kinda psychotic. Don't get me wrong, I mean I have my moments, but.. man, that's fierce." He looked Jaime over again, his expression tightening into knots again. "Isn't he supposed to be ... huge? I mean you're not a big girl and if you're like your mom?"
"Yes, that dark one.." Her expression was questioning as she reached to touch his face, seeing how it changed in reaction to what she told him and his own thoughts. "Why does your face.. do this?" Was he angry? "I am.. as they say.. the spitting image of her?" She wasn't sure if that was the right term people used but she thought that was it.
"Never understood what that meant, but yeah, I guess that's probably what they say if you look just like her. My face? Um, it's me thinking... being confused, like I don't get something. Let's just say I have a hell of a lot of respect for your mom if she could take that and make you. I think, if you're just like her... without force and being.. well, me and not some uberdemon... eh, nevermind, I'm just being stupid. I guess I just want to say that I'm not him and our family isn't like that. No force... we stick together by loyalty and will. If you decide you don't like me so much... heh, well I hope you do so I don't have to think about that right now."
She licked at her lips and her face crinkled up a little as his words confused her once he got to the part where he said nevermind. "I am the one who is confused now.." Her hands were already on his face so it was natural for her to lean in and kiss him to assure him, she liked him. "I like you very much.. please tell what you were going to say when you said never mind and that you were being stupid? That is where I became confused."
He laughed again. He'd never been flustered like this before and he sounded like an idiot to himself. "I was trying not to sound... um..," he bit his lip and reached for her hands. "Let's just say I think you'll like how we go together and I really... really want to find out, the more I look at you, smell you..."
She shifted closer to him, drawn in by his words which reminded her of how his scent affected her in similar ways. Jaime nodded in agreement, she too wanted to find out how they went together, so far she liked it very much. Her lips brushed his, softly at first and then came back again with a more demanding kiss.

Beneath the human shape was an animal steeped in and bred on instinct. Essex growled gently, the sound almost like a plea to get them to the apartment soon or he was going to take advantage of the human curfew and their private enclave amongst the backdrop of trees.
Jaime might not understand why her sister bothered with a human boy but she now knew exactly why kissing boys was so popular. She was enticed by what she tasted in the kiss and what she felt in his embrace, the growl drew her form closer to his. She didn't want to pull away from him or stop kissing him and feeling this way, her hands roamed over his shoulders and down his arms.
She was doing this to him on purpose. A succubus, or just one really hott wolf girl with a passion for distraction - specifically his? He didn't exactly care with the attention she was giving him. Either way, he knew the moment he caught her scent on the wind what he wanted. There was little enough of the skirt to start with and little else she wore with it, he noted. They hadn't cleared away from the trees yet and he decided they weren't going to, turning with her back to the nearest tree to lean against.
Jaime felt the spin and her back against the rough bark of the tree, she didn't mind that at all as his scent seemed to grow stronger and encourage her. Her leg lifted and curled up along his hip, her mouth hungry against his as the kisses went on. He wasn't forcing her, he was simply making her want him more and more. "My Essy.." She growled softly and nipped at his lower lip.
"Yeah and 'your' Essy has a really big problem right now," he whispered, grinning a little and kissing down her neck. He didn't have to say much more about that particular problem with the way she wrapped around him.
She closed her eyes and her fingers raked along his arms and shoulders, she was not trying to make him stop at all. "Mmm.. can I help you with that problem?" She asked softly, her eyes opening to reveal the fire burning in them.
"Any time you want to," he said, hoping she understood. Apparently she did with that look. He promised not to force, but he did promise to keep her and she certainly was making them both easy promises to keep. "Mmm... any way you want to," he suggested, soaking up the attention and seeking the delicious reactions to the kisses on the other side of her neck now.
"Don't you need help.. now?" She asked, almost innocent in her inquiry but the huskiness of her voice and the soft sigh as he kissed her neck told another story. "Show me how you'd most like me to help.." Her hands moved down his back and she leaned to kiss his neck, nipping lightly in her excitement.
"Now is good. Really good," he suggested, curling against her. "Want to see how well we go together.. now?"
She nipped again, harder this time and her fingers dug in a little as if to encourage him and pressed herself against him. "Now.. yes..." She brought her kisses back toward his mouth, nearly hissing the words over his lips.
He wasn't in the habit of wearing much himself, not being in this form often. The jeans were loosely fitting as it was to allow him his movements, especially climbing and dodging detection, and making his quick change without ripping them to shreds. The button slipped easily under his thumb and the slighest of tugs was all he needed once she'd said yes. "Make me yours," he said, standing bared and waiting eagerly for her.
She'd asked him to show her because she didn't know and had never been in such a position before, so when he bared himself and told her to make him hers she didn't know how. She wanted to know but needed him to show her, to teach her and now she stared at him looking upset and perplexed. She knew his parts were supposed to go with hers but had never experienced it before to be sure of how that worked. It wasn't like her mother had described in detail what had happened when she was forced. Jaime's mouth was fixed in a trembling pout as she stared at Essy and slowly shook her head. "I don't know how.. I never.. have before."
He didn't scold her, but gently kissed her pout. "Put your leg like it was before and hug me," he whispered, stepping out of the jeans.
A little bit of a smile peeked out at his gentle kiss and she was relieved with how he didn't get angry with her for not being able to do as he asked. When he told her what to do, she set her leg back around his hip and slipped her arms around his shoulders, bringing her up against him again.
