morning
Veinna Estate - Richie's rooms
The door closed as the tumbleweeds of children rolled out the door in a ball of relative chaos. Richie groaned quietly and burrowed under his pillow, trying not to laugh. "I am soo sorry. I thought I locked the door. I must have forgotten when they brought up the tray," he murmured, muffled under the goose down.
She chuckled, rolling halfway over to glance at him. She reached and tugged the pillow. "Good looking kids..."
"Yeah... their mother gets that credit," he sighed gently, peeking out to make sure wasn't upset.
An eyebrow arched at him as she settled to leaning on an arm. "I have no idea what their mother looks like... But thier father is pretty nice on the eyes.. and I think he gets some credit for his kids good looks."
Pale, ice colored eyes stared out from a briefly shy expression as he moved the pillow away. He glanced at her as his attention was diverted to fluffing and propping, "Thanks... wow... guess it has been a while."
"What's been awhile?" Her eyes moved slowly over his face, watching his expression, with a soft smile.
"Someone seeing me behind them. I'm usually just the car-keys. People don't tend to notice me much.. much less say anything. The compliment... um.. thanks."
"Just truth... " She shrugged. "You're welcome." She rested back on the pillows with a quiet sigh. "They always get up this early? And is it normal for them to come in.. or do you think they heard someone was in here?"
"Not really, thanks again, yes... damnit... yes again... damnit again... and probably... in that order," he smiled. "They're kids... wait.. no they're not, they're teenagers... they do that. But, if that's the worse they ever do, I'm really not complaining. That's not their worst, by the way."
She blinked and stared at him for a moment and then slowly nodded, sorting and making sense of what he'd said. "You... they mean the world to you." She smiled, her eyes sparkling. "It's really cute.. how you get when you talk about them."
His smile tipped into an embarrassed grin. "Yeah, I guess they do," he mused, looking at the door, half-expecting to see them still there. "It's not cute, really. But this place, if you stick around a while, you'll see is all about family. Those kids mean the world to everyone in this house."
Her smile faltered and faded a little, but remained, soft and pretty. "That must be something... all about family and all.." Her eyes cast about the room and then came back to him. "It is cute." She insisted softly, with a wink.
"What?" He asked softly, noting the slight change in her expression.
"You.. about the kids.. and your family.. it's cute. All proud and shy at once.."
"That's just me, I guess," he shrugged lightly, settling comfortably into his pillow again, his arm curled underneath it. "The shy one.. if you can believe it."
