6:15 p.m.
Once the basic five-minute tour was over, he was ready to get started but still needed to do the paperwork. Maybe he acted restless and impatient or maybe the owner didn't notice at all that he was as he stopped to talk to a few of the girls as they rustled by. It was quiet enough right now he couldn't tell yet if he'd made a bad choice of venue or if the business would ramp up like his cousin promised. Rase was one of the few people he trusted and having no job after the last place had bankrupted, trust was all Wink had in his pocket to work with. He tried to remember names as they moved from the dressing room and back hall to the stage and front bar again. His head was swimming. That's why he didn't work where he had to know names if they weren't on a list in front of him. He only needed to know drunk and stupid from just plain crazy, and where to find the cabs at 2 a.m. for those that needed them most. Knowing that he'd probably be keeping his cousin's ambulance service in business as well was a nice payback for the favor of the recommendation that he passed along. Gabe seemed to be steering him toward a seat in the room rather than toward on office. He hadn't seen an office, had he?
Gabe did have an office, he still called it Carl's office because he hated to use it and rarely did, he liked being on the floor with his girls. "What are you drinking?" He asked the 'boy' as he motioned toward his favorite booth and signalled one of the waitresses over. "That's one of the perks, a few drinks a night while working. Space them out and don't get stupid. we have soda, bottled water to keep you quenched." He explained as he relaxed in the booth with a deep sigh. "Any questions so far?"
Josie had just gotten in for her shift at six and came over to the table with a slight smile perched on her lips. Her shirt was snug, her skirt short but she was dressed pretty modest compared to some of the other waitresses. "Hey there.. what can I get you, cutie?" She addressed the new bouncer, knowing already what Gabe wanted and flicking her boss on the nose lightly as he ran his hand over her rear.
"Water," he said tentatively, wondering if this was a test. He tried to read the man but got a blank, nothing... good. He didn't like working for marshmallows, either. He appreciated the challenge and grinned, taking a seat. He added, "And whatever's on tap if you're really offering. Questions? Mm, other than the obvious, I guess ... what kinda benefits are there?" The 'obvious' was walking around every part of the room, distracting him enough he didn't hear the girl who'd come to take the actual order. She seriously twicked the guy's nose and he was just amazed she didn't get bitten or yelled at - or pulled into the booth for more touching and teasing, either. "Wha- um... water's good."
"Water?" Gabe laughed enough to be caught off guard by Josie's flick and his hand left her ass to grab his nose. "Fiesty b*tch." He grinned and gave her ass a hard slap as she walked away, enough that it would sting a few minutes and her hands went behind her to guard it. "Benefits? Ohh you mean like medical and dental? Yeah.. full coverage, you need it in a place like this and we make enough to give it to you. As for the obvious.. take your pick. The job comes with a girl of your choice. You want her?" He nodded toward Josie, knowing full well Biff might try to kill him for offering up his sister as a prize.
"My pick? Excuse me?" He wasn't sure if the slap made his own ears ring. Had he heard right or was this also a test? "I ...," he stammered around the air, not sure any answer would be a good one.
"Why not ask -her- first," Mallory suggested, sauntering by at the right moment to overhear Gabe's offer. She put the stack of coasters with the night's specials on the table and gave Gabe a raised eyebrow. It wasn't the first time she'd stood up for the other girls, trying to keep them from being pawed and underappreciated. There was a hint of a smile before she turned and started off to help Nic with the racks of glasses for the bar.
"Ask who? He didn't tell me which one he likes.." He chuckled and reached to try and grab himself a piece of Mal as she walked by, he enjoyed giving her a little goose now and then. "Aren't you supposed to be making my drink?" He teased her and turned his attention to Wink for a moment, he grinned wickedly. "Well?"
Josie was at the bar waiting for Mal to get the drink order filled, they all knew what Gabe liked and she grabbed a bottled water for the bouncer since he'd not told her any different. She glanced back to the table, checking the new guy out a little, he was very cute.
"On it," Mal retorted as she kept walking, dodging most of the grab and adding a dainty swat for good measure. She glanced at Nic with a slight shake of her head. The drink first, then the glasses, of course. She slipped behind the bar and had the drink ready in moments, adding a draught from the top of the keg that had just been tapped. "If he doesn't like it, I'll drink it myself," she added, putting both glasses on the tray for Josie. She noticed the girl giving the new guy a glance. A surprised and impressed 'hmph' and a shrug followed as she mopped the foam from the bar.
Josie looked at Mal and smiled, her shoulder lifting in a shrug. "Hey they can look at us, grab our asses.. no law says we can't look too. He's cute.. probably a jerk like most that come through here.. think I'll stay single and celibant." She chuckled at her quiet comments to Mal and shook her head a little as she turned to head back to the table.
"Well...? You're serious? You let your girls talk to you like that and you're offering one as a perk? That's... that's just amazing," he shook his head, laughing a little, putting his elbow on the back of his seat. It made him turn a little and he watched the waitress picking up their drinks to bring them back, considering the offer.
Gabe grinned and nodded his head. "The perks here are pretty damn awesome.. any one you want.." He grinned and thought about what Mal said as he watched Josie walk up with their drinks. "I only let Mal talk to me like that cause she has the best ass in this place and sometimes she even let's me grab it.. not like Jo, here." He took a sip of his drink and winked at the waitress. "What if we switch it up a little? Josie, you want your very own boy toy?"
Josie set the glasses down, the beer on a coaster for Wink as she smiled and gave him a direct look over. "Hmmm.. nah, he's not my cup of tea."
He was summed up in a glance that lingered a little too long for her answer. "She's lying," he snickered. "I want her," he added, giving her a sweet glimmer of challenge in the glance. He picked up the beer first. If he wasn't going to the get the job because he gave all the wrong answers, at least he'd have a drink first.
