random bit I found of Cassie and Claude from Haven
***********************************************
alrighty then.. um.. that narrows it down...
Cassie has a really goofy idea of intro'ing her mom to Claude... they like art and stuff and she's a good lady... and Claude's kinda cute... unless he's *whispers*.... <gay>
chuckles -I'm not gay -just very selective
what does your father think of you setting your mother up on dates?
my father's an ass and I don't care what he thinks... he gave us up for dead so... *shrug*
put it this way... he threw my brother out cuz he saved me from drowning... next question?
So your mom is a divorcee?
Mmmhmm... and she's a dancer and does sculpture and sings... oh, and she's a kick-ass defense lawyer too.. she even cooks
Sounds like she should have many admirers -probably wouldn't be interested in a recluse like myself
Mm.. if she does I don't think she notices. She spends a lot of time on us... um.. me and my brother... and Uncle Jason... boy does he need the help... you know... Jason the band teacher?... yeah, so anyway... she doesn't get out much or anything. She cooks, sews... she does everything except date, I guess.
He chuckled. "She sounds like me in heels." He smiled a little lifting his fingers to smear the edges of the image on the canvas.
"Oh, gosh no. She got shin splints so bad when she did her last show, she stopped dancing and doesn't wear heels much anymore. But she's got the legs to pull it off when she does. She more likely to be in coveralls and covered head to toe in clay and paint... or whatever other project she's working on. She's really passionate about everything she does."
"That's good.. so mant people lose passion in their lives. She sounds like she is happy doing what she does."
"She's happier than she was, sure. I mean, Drake's here and me and she adores his wife and their kids, but she's still super young and just seems kinda... I dunno... she's all by herself, just the same, Mister Requiem. I don't mean to be rude or stick my nose in your business or hers, but you do have a lot in common. She's really pretty too."
"I'm not young and I'm not pretty." He smiled, still concentrating on his work as he spoke with and listened to the young girl. "I have never been married and I have no children.. Have you.. talked to your mom about your.. concerns. I think you're very sweet for looking out for her, but does she even want to date? Some women are happy with other passions, I know a few who have decided alone is better than married." He paused to turn his smile at her and wink. "Besides what would she see in someone like me..hmm?"
She nodded at the canvas he worked on. "That... and plenty of other stuff," she smiled. "She's the one I get my knack for drawing from, though I have to learn to do better. I want to be as good as she is... or like you. You both make it look easy. Oh, and no, I haven't talked to her. She'd change the subject, I'm sure... dad kinda tore her up when he sent us away like that and she... you know what she really needs is just a friend or two, professor. She doesn't know anyone out here but us. She left everything behind when she came here. I guess that's all I'm asking."
"Please don't call me professor.. it makes me sound terribly old." His bare oes curled around the rung of the stool and he wiped some paint on his faded worn jeans. He was on his own time at the moment, his shirt was unbuttoned and his jeans had holes in the knees, he was comfortable and casual as he let himself go into his work.
"Would you stop it? You're not old. Geez. First you say you're old then you say you're not, but you're not anyway," Cassie laughed. "You're really cool and you're good at art and stuff and I just thought... maybe just getting to know her a little. Something little like coffee or dinner or something. Please?"
"I don't know... will you be there? What if I don't know what to talk about?"
"No, I won't be there," she rolled her eyes and laughed a little more. "It's supposed to be you and her getting to know each other. I already know you."
(Cassie runs off to her next class and leaves Claude to consider the ideas....)
