June 19, 2010 11:30 p.m.
The dim lighting was more than favorable even if the sun-bright strobe cut through it now and then, bathing him and his unusual palor in uncomfortable white. He passed beneath it again, going through the crowd to approach the bar for a refill - a special mix of drink from their stock he'd topped off with a drop or two of his personal hooch, brought in a small and ornate flask in his jacket. The movement of his hand and the twist of the cap was almost imperceptable although the eye of the strobe bounced off the shadow this time. Was his hand in his jacket and what was in it, one might wonder if they looked at just that second before he was picking up his drink again. Tricks of the light always made things interesting, he mused to himself, watching deeper into the shadows as he turned his back to the bar to watch the crowd. A couple of figures parted the shadows now and then, catching his attention more than the rest.
Another typical Fiday night, the same scene and the same faces, it was getting boring and Jaime hated to be bored. Her lithe form moved through the crowd, she stopped now and then to dance with someone or when the beat pulled her in but otherwise paid no attention to the people around her. She found herself a table in the shadows and claimed it as hers for the night, ordering a round of drinks. She inspected her nails as her girlfriends giggled and gushed over this guy or that one, she'd seen them all before and wasn't impressed. The other girls moved off to find someone to flirt with and Jaime relaxed, watching the crowd with a predatory gaze. Her eyes stopped on a man at the bar who was watching the crowd, she'd never seen him before.. her tongue wet her lips as she considered what sort of trouble she could cause with him. He was more intriguing than anyone else in the place and she kept watching him, her slender legs crossing and pushing her short skirt further up her thighs. She absently toyed with the strap of her thin tank top and with her hair where it hung over the front of her shoulder.
He could tell when he was being watched in return. Something in the air changed with the weight of the gaze, it seemed. He turned his attention toward the table with the lone girl playing with her hair. So that's where she'd disappeared to, he grinned, happy to find her still in the crowd though not bobbling through it as she had earlier. Her friends had left her in pursuit of toys to amuse themselves. What was her story, he wondered, pondering recent breakups or complete disinterest, perhaps the designated driver who was waiting on the others. That was too tragic to consider and far too inconvenient given his plans for his own amusement. He slipped a bill onto the bar, taking the next drink that came up before the one who'd ordered it could grab hold of it. "Make him another," he grinned at the bartender, pushing the bill forward that was more than enough for the forfeit drink and several others for the trouble. He brought the new, unaltered drink with him as he cut through the crowd, approaching the girl in slow circles, dancing with a few others on his way as the music became darker, harder and louder. He eventually made his way to the table and set down the drink, looking around the place for her friends. "Anchor, abandoned or both? If you want to dance, I'll watch the table for your friends," he offered.
Jaime had been watching him at the bar, slightly disappointed when he moved, she thought he might be leaving but was pleasantly surprised at the direction he headed in. She didn't look away as he approached, her eyes following him as he danced a little with others, much like she had earlier. "Neither." She replied with a slight curve to her smile at his question and she politely shook her head to his offer. "Rather you watch me than the table.. better yet.. dance with me." She didn't really ask, more of a quiet demand as she rose and slid his drink away, her hands reaching for his as she came dangerously close.

This was going to be easier than he thought. What was her angle, though, he wondered - pickpocket? He let go of the drinks and took her hands. "Easy there, killer. I break easy," he winked. "How about I ask you to dance with me?" Either way, he backed into the crowd with her as a space seemed to open just for them. He would be the first to admit he wasn't exactly a great dancer, but he could move well in the crowd nicely enough. His fingers would seem cold from carrying the ice-laden glasses, but even clasped in hers they didn't warm much.
"Aww.. pity, I was really hoping you wouldn't." She pouted but something in her gaze said that she'd break him, even if she'd rather he didn't. "How about you don't ask, since I'd say no, if you did." She countered to his question, considering she'd already told him to dance with her and he'd told her he broke easily. Jaime held loosely to his fingers as she shifted to the open space with him and dropped them quickly. Her gaze rolled over him as she began to move to the beat of the music, she chuckled a little and let her thoughts wander, thinking about things she had to do tomorrow, what she should wear and an array of things that had nothing to do with the guy she was dancing with.
He nodded to her reaction. Fair enough. Her attention was distracted, though, and he wasn't going to stand or dance for that. Her hands had dropped and she would find him reaching for them again and trying to get closer, needling his way into her direct thoughts. "I'll take my chances," he said, dancing closer.
He was brave and interested enough to try to get her attention, she could appreciate that and a small smile played on her lips as he danced closer. Her eyebrow arched up and she chuckled again, pulling him up so she could whisper in his ear. "Are you sure you want to do that?" She asked him, moving against him in a way that said he'd gotten her attention for the moment.. ahh but how to keep it?
He curled around her as she whispered and tried to keep her close. "Are you sure you want me to say no?" His fingers were still cool to the touch but his suggestions with them were quite warm. "What if I said I'm quite sure?"
He wasn't the world's best dancer but that didn't mean he couldn't still move with her, Jaime smile and nipped lightly at his ear. Her softly giggled 'mmm' was her only verbal answer for now as she tested his resolve by moving into his suggestions a little and curling her leg around his hip.
He chucked a little at her evasiveness. It wasn't like he was a monster - or maybe it was. Some girls had a sense enough about him to steer clear, but some seemed curious enough to find out how hard he might bite. In fact, with her, he was counting on it. "Are you sure you want to do that?" He turned the words on her with every bit of permission to continue if she wanted. Not given much of a choice about finding out on the dance floor as there was a loud pop and roaring squeal of feedback, he jerked away as the shrill sounds hit his ears unexpectedly and probably more painfully than the others around them. He tried to correct the error as the groans of displeasure over the blown sound system filtered through the crawl of the crowd that started to move toward the door.

Jaime was one of the ones groaning after the initial jerk from being startled out of the pleasant contact by the squeal. She glanced around as people started for the door, looking for her friends but at the same time, reached for Julian's hand to keep him close. "So.. you want to go finish our drinks and let the crowd get out of the way.. we'll just be standing in line to get out." She teased and nodded in the direction of thier table while the crowd backed up at the door.
He looked around at the crowd then up at the lighting rig overhead and the painted-over windows along the far wall near a faintly-lit emergency exit door. It must have been left over from the previous design of the place. "Who says we have to wait. See that?" He pointed to their possible escape, though there was no guarantee it truly went anywhere, but he was willing to try it rather than wait or wade through the crowd.
She pouted a little as he pointed out an exit rather than wanting to linger in the shadows with her and finish their drinks. She would have tried to make sure he wasn't bored but it seemed he'd rather get out quickly.. then probably ditch her. She should have figured.. it was part of the whole appeal of places like this, nameless faces to flirt and dance with. "Sure.. sounds great." She gestured for him to lead the way with a faint smile, at least she'd have a better chance of finding her friends if she got out to the parking lot.
He paused. The tone wasn't expected. Maybe she really did want to hang back and have that drink with him. "Or we could see if they get the sound fixed. Then we'll have the place to ourselves. Unless you're up for a little adventure. Wait and see?" His lead was back to the drinks. He'd hardly had a sip of his refill.
Jaime liked to be the center of attention, at least for the person who's attention she was after. There was a reason she remained single, she was still searching for someone with the right balance between spoiling her rotten and not letting her crush him under her heel. This guy had potential, he kept drawing her attention back to him, she wanted someone who could keep her attention as well and that she wouldn't be bored with or of. "I'm not worried about the sound.." She shrugged and ran her hand up his arm as he turned toward the table now, he seemed to read her fairly well.. another point in his favor. "What sort of adventure?" She asked him with more of a curious smile, wondering what he had in mind?
"A walk in the park after curfew... naked?" He joked, plucking an ice cube from his drink with his tongue that crunched as he grinned. "Maybe stealing some license plates off the cars at the teen park-n-shark? Not like they can see out their fogged windows, right? Or that they'd care. Mmm.. maybe fog up some of those windows ourselves? I dunno, what are you in the mood for?" He was curious what a girl like her might find fun or different.
"I'm not really into stealing license plates.. though your other suggestions..." She smiled, her green eyes sparkling playfully as she reached for her drink. "There is this fountain in the park.. and this really pretty lake.. which could be enjoyed while naked and with steamed windows.. or without windows at all.."

"Ah, a girl after my own heart. What if I said... no windows, yes to the lake, maybe to the fountain, and let's go now? Or do you think your friends might worry for my welfare?"
"Well if you said that.." She winked at him, chuckling as she drank down the rest of her glass in one long tip. "I would say, let's go.. and where did you park?" Her lips glistened invitingly from the drink and her eyes continued to sparkle with delight. "I'm sure my friends will be terribly worried about you.. they do know me after all."
"Outside of the lot. I don't trust valets and wanted to make a quick exit, but not until last-call. Looks like plans have changed on that, but it's not far, just dark. Not sure I can trust you all alone. Please say I can't," he said, finishing off his glass as well and savoring another icecube that caused him to pucker a little.
"Who said you could trust me now?" She countered and leaned up to take advantage of the pucker caused by the ice cube. Her lips brushed his in a barely there kiss as a warning, so hopefully he wouldn't choke on the ice as a couple of seconds later she was delivering a more demanding kiss. Her fingers slipping up to the back of his neck.
That was unexpected and what she might find would also be unexpected, but explained away by the chill of the ice he'd been sucking on. He grinned beneath the kiss and returned it boldly, holding onto her again as her fingers brushed over his neck. She might find his teeth sharper than she'd come across before as well, but he didn't stop her.
It was probably better for them both that Jaime prefered 'different' over the same as everyone else and thus was more into enjoying what made the kiss more exciting, rather than disecting it or pulling away. She pressed against him and invited his boldness, taking a breath before diving into more kisses, her tongue reaching to feel the chill of the ice in his mouth. He seemed cool all over but it felt really good against her more heated skin, causing an interesting sensation. For the moment at least, he had her undivided attention.
He hadn't taken a breath, but it wasn't something most would notice with the way he kept moving. She flirted still with dangerous discovery with her tongue playing against his, but again he welcomed her to continue. His fingers still danced and invited as they moved with music no one else heard at that moment. The place was becoming quieter by the moment and slowly the house lights were beginning to pop back on around them, breaking holes in the shadows.
She didn't want to stop and he could probably tell that in her subtle and slight movements against him as they kissed, movements she wasn't even fully aware of herself. The lights started to come on and her eyes fluttered with their intrusion, a soft sigh warmed his lips as she parted from the kiss for a breath. "About that quick getaway?" She smiled a little, brushing her finger along his jaw. "I'd rather continue this somewhere we wont be interupted.."
It had been a few moments since the crowd began filtering out. "Sounds like a plan. Parking lot's probably empty already," he said, glancing up at the walkway and the sealed door, though not moving far from the touch of her fingers. With the lights on now, they couldn't get to it without the managers noticing, or without leaving her with a head full of questions he wasn't ready to answer yet.

Jaime was reluctant to move away from him, it seemed strange to want so sincerely to be close with someone she'd just met. Her normal games and flirting suddenly seemed like so much more, she tried to shrug it off with a smile. "Tell me where we're going.." She dragged her gaze away from his face and slowly turned to head to the parking lot, her fingers brushed down his arm to grasp his.
"Straight to that place good girls' mothers warn them about and bad girls run away from home to find?" He smiled and took hold of her hand. "Out the door, north of the lot, one block over and a straight shot through the alley. Next to that old pawn shop that's been closed forever. Means no neon lights and no traffic.Ready?"
"For someone I've never seen here before, you seem to know the neighborhood well." She commented as she headed out the door and into the lot where some of the crowd was still getting into cars that then filed out into the road. "My car is over here.. where are you parked?" She motioned to her sporty little number, which seemed to fit her half dark and half flirty personality.
He frowned a little and shrugged. "You know... that old pawn shop? Eh, maybe it's something else now during business hours. Oh, you thought that's where home is? Heh, no," he chuckled, looking over at her car. "Tell you what. Stranger in your part of town, right? You don't want to leave that little thing here to get towed, me I'm not worried about mine. You want to drive and I'll tell you where to go? Nice and sweet, of course?"
She chuckled at his assumptions and had her keys out before he'd finished. "I never intended to leave my car. It was ride with me or one of us follows the other." She mentioned as she moved around to unlock the driver's side door and then hit the button to do the same for his. "Get in cutie." She teased with a slight smile. "I have candy."
Do you now, he thought, raising an eyebrow at her suggestions. "I only go for the hard kind," he grinned, ducking into the passenger seat. The ringing in his ears was fading now and he leaned back comfortably to listen to other things. "So does the mystery candy lady have a name?"
"Could be something like a sweet tart." She glanced at him as she got the car started, her teeth caught her lower lip and held it a few second before she released it. "I do have a name.. it starts with a J.. your turn." She put the car in gear and rested her hand on his knee as she pulled out of the parking space.
"Really? So does mine," he said, sliding his hand over hers and encouraging her fingers to wander. "Could stop with that, but one of us might get confused. What'll it cost me to buy a vowel?"
She gave a slightly played up gasp of surprise that his name also started with a J and then giggled, giving his thigh a squeeze as he encouraged her hand to wander. She could really like this guy, in the wanting to see him more than once way! She chided herself for such silly thoughts, if he was this willing to play along and clicked so nicely with her - then he wouldn't possibly want to see her again. No, he was playing his game just as she was playing hers and she couldn't let herself have such thoughts or get caught up in his good looks or charm. "I think I could be bribed into giving you a vowel.. what are you willing to give me for it?"
