March 21, year 2
morning
Gully had had... and certainly heard... enough from the young ones on either side of his room at the house, those who were wed and wild on one side, and the other two, young and bold and yet to be married, if it were ever to come to pass, all driving his head further beneath his pillows in search of peace as he reminded himself not to judge unfairly nor cast stones. There was only so far he could dig beneath his covers for quiet before realizing the inevetible which found him tipped, asleep, on a pew in his small church, having found rest at last, though stiff and flat and a little cold where he wrapped his coats around himself at some point in the late night.
Andrea had come early in the morning after things had wound down at Tessa's.. as she did a few times a week, she cleaned herself up and put on her most modest dress, which wasn't exactly proper in the eyes of those who saw themselves as better than she. She made her way to the little church to clean and keep it nice as she had for awhile now, since the Carlisle family had showed her and her 'sisters' at Tessa's such kindness and protection. The young blonde had also become quite smitten with Gully, though a girl of her place in the world had no right to feel such a way about a man fine and decent as he was. A smile curled her lip and she hummed very softly as she moved along, cleaning and oiling the wood pews, the wood would always glow in it's dark beauty when she was done. Of course the girl was exhausting herself, long nights at Tessa's making as much money as she could, which she used to buy things for the church or for Gully, which she would leave for him without saying a word or telling him where they had come from. A new shirt now and then, an offering each week in the basket.. her hand paused as she came across a shoe.. not just a shoe, but a foot and leg.. and oh dear it was Gully! He was asleep and she watched his face quietly, he looked peaceful and she was entranced by his handsome content face for a few moments. Andrea didn't consciously think about it as she leaned to kiss him softly, her eyes closing as her lips brushed against his.
Perhaps it was a dream he was in at the moment affecting him, but he found he couldn't move. A word on his lips was taken softly, warmly it seemed and his eyes fluttered as the vision faded away to the pale morning light. He pursed the tingling sensation between his lips and tried to speak as the room came into view along with the angelic face of one of his loyal congregation. Names and sense escaped him at the moment, but he smiled softly in the recognition from his deeper slumber, making the words form, but no sound come out. "Good morning..."
She felt his lips move against hers and she reached to a deeper kiss, though still very tender and then she gently pulled away. "Did you sleep here all night?" She asked him softly, brushing her knuckle over his cheek.
Was he still dreaming or had death taken him during his slumber. It wasn't his imagination that he'd been kissed and he watched her, confused, as she pulled away, more into focus as she did so and he could see the girl more clearly. Her hair was plainly done and her clothing clean and proper, unlike... The fog cleared a little more. "Miss Andrea? I...," he looked at where he was laid out and did a quick inventory to ensure he was also appropriately covered, as at the house, he tended not to be. His elbow pounded roughly and unexpectedly against the back of the pew and his lurch nearly caused him to roll completely to the floor in a startled flounder. He grasped the back of the pew to hold himself, half prone and half falling, righting himself slowly to sitting then nursing his elbow. "Apparently, I did," he grinned, a bit embarrassed.
She smiled a little as he woke up and she reached to try and help steady him. "Is your elbow alright? Are you cold? It's chilly this morning." Her hands brushed over his arms and she gazed upon him with affection and concern.
