The second beer hadn't been very appealing though he'd hoped the night would be more interesting with the fuzzy edges. It still wasn't and he was bored. The only thing holding his interest was the waffling thought of talking to the blonde girl on the patio.. if only he was that brave. Dom managed a smile and he talked himself into believing she'd smiled back. That's when the shouting started. The full fledged fight had drawn too many people into the front room around him to watch out the front windows and he lost sight of her and of any desire to stay any later. Violence wasn't his sort of thing. He looked again, but only saw the swimming mass of onlookers and couldn't find her anywhere. Maybe she'd already left, he wondered. He ducked through the crowd to the kitchen and out through the garage, bypassing the fists and thrown bodies, and hopefully the spray of any misdirected.. anything. Wearing blood home wasn't usually a good idea, and a worse one when it wasn't his own. Driving any further than the few blocks he'd come was nearly as bad of an idea, feeling the road slip sideways under the car more than once, but luckily not enough to catch the attention of any officer yet. He pulled into the lot of the diner and sat in the car a long moment before slowly wandering in, conspicuously alone. He asked for a booth, a table for two at least, so it at least seemed that he was waiting for someone, not just steaming off a buzz until he could drive.
Ely didn't like beer much but to be polite she had been sipping the bottle she'd been given as she stood with her two friends, talking and watching the crowd. Her friends quickly found guys to talk to and the trio split up, leaving Ely by herself, she didn't care for parties that much either and sighed as the other two went off. She smiled as her gaze swept over the people and she thought she saw a cute guy looking and smiling at her. Maybe he wasn't... about then a fight broke out and Ely used that as her hint to make a speedy exit, she slipped out the back and to her car, texting her friends to tell them she'd left as she didn't want them to worry. She drove around, bored but not drunk from the few sips of beer, a short time later she pulled into the small lot of the diner. She felt a little dressed up but, at least stopping to eat would ease the boredom a little. She brushed her fingers through her hair as she stepped inside, looking around for a place to sit.
Dominick lifted his gaze as the tiny bell on the door rattled. His attention was always easily drawn to sounds and movements, but painfully moreso with the alcohol his system just seemed to process like a hurricane. He blinked again, disbelieving what he thought he saw and couldn't help but smile again. The moment of bravery he'd been waiting for in the crowd hit him now and he rose his hand to wave her over. He hoped she would join him.
Ely's eyes scanned the diner and she stopped on the man as he waved her over, she took a moment to glance behind her to see if anyone had walked in behind her. There was no one there and she turned back to him with a shy smile, pointing to herself as she started toward his table. What were the odds? The very same guy she'd thought was cute from the party happened to be in here when she wandered in. She wondered if she'd slipped and hit her head or if she was dreaming the whole night and would wake in her bed at home only to realize none of it was real.
Melodramatic and sweet, he moved his hand over his chest like it might break his heart if she didn't come sit at his table. He nodded and waved a little more frantically, his lips saying 'please'. In that moment a creeping bit of horror tickled his brain and gave him an embarrassed feeling, a shiver that told him her boyfriend was going to waltz in behind her and come rip his nose off. Dominick blushed and felt the heat light up even the tops of his ears that were covered under his hair as he chuckled and only semi-hid behind his menu, wanting to see her arrive and not wanting to watch her walk away forever. He swore his heart stopped for that moment... or would if it wasn't pounding furiously.
She mouthed an 'awww' at how he held his hand over his heart and said please silently for her to come to his table. She was on her way there anyway and picked up her pace to get there quicker, she stopped at the seat across from him. "Hi..." Ely blushed softly, reaching to brush her fingers through her hair as she slid down into the seat, she smiled sweetly at him, hoping she didn't come off like a big geek or something.
