The shadows had swallowed the kid. He had him and then... poof, gone. Justice wasn't sure what he saw, but it was beyond what he could explain. It was like space just folded around him and made him move in ways he'd never seen anything human manage. "Bats, maybe, not people," he muttered, moving his hand off his face as he leaned on the bar. He ordered, hadn't he? At the moment the thoughts in his head were drowned out by the throbbing in his shoulder that was matching the throbbing of the speakers even though the music wasn't up very loud. A glass was set down beside him and he reached for it without a second thought, hoping to numb everything as quickly as he could so he could think.
Dakota was a regular here, though she would only sip at one maybe two drinks as she sat at the bar listening to music and sometimes taking a spin around the dance floor. Her bestfriend was the bartender and both stared at the man who'd come in and sat down next to Dakota as he took her drink. "You know you're supposed to buy girls drinks not take them." She commented with a motion of her hand for another, she would have taken the glass back from him but he looked like he really needed the drink.
"Huh? Buy...," he turned toward the voice, in a fog that cleared as he saw her at shoulder and chest first, before looking up to the face. "Girls... I mean... I'm sorry, was that yours?" He looked at the glass he'd emptied only then realizing it wasn't the usual whiskey and rocks he was expecting. "What was that?"
Since he wasn't looking at her face at first he missed the eye rolling, she was used to people talking to her chest - it was the curse of having curves. "Yes it was mine and it's a special concoction that's made special for me. I have no idea what's in it but it's yummy." She grinned and waved at the glass as the bartender brought over her replacement. "Get him one of... what would you like?" She spoke to the bar tender then to the stranger to let him fill in the order before he stole her drink again.
"Concoction? Okay then. Good enough for a witch's brew, I guess. Too sweet for me, no offense," he said, grimacing a little as he ran his tongue over the aftertaste on his lip and set the glass aside. He announced the drink he wanted instead. "Whiskey.. please and tha-.. did you just buy me a drink?" He turned to the girl again and looked at her eyes this time, confused though not as foggy as he'd been. He stole her drink and she was getting him another? Maybe the night wasn't turning out so bad after all.
"Well no one has ever complained when kissing me after I've had one or two." She hmphed and shrugged as if he was disturbed to complain about the drink being too sweet. "Some people actually like sweet.." She winked at him now and when the bar tender put his drink down, she paid. "Now, I've bought you a drink.. you look like you could use one. Rough day?"
