Sam looked skyward and laughed. There was enough of a chill tonight to see his breath cloud over the stars and make him shiver. Dean wasn't going to have that problem tonight. He doubted his brother ever felt cold on any given night, either on an all-night sugar buzz, or just some all-night Sugar he'd forget the next morning on the way to the next town. God that sucked sometimes. Sam shrugged into the warmth of his jacket and shuffled down the block toward the hotel. He'd taken Carl's car for the short outing, certain the man wasn't using it tonight now that he was tucked safely in.. and locked in with a few wards in place in the event some of their friends decided to show up. Carl was the kind of stupid to call the whole of Hell into his living room if it meant a chance for a fling with a hot chic... perhaps more hot than any of them could handle on no sleep, no coffee, and no food since breakfast the day before. Sam gritted his teeth and scolded himself for that reminder. He was actually looking forward to the next cheesedog from a convenience store, but not until after this bit of unappetizing business. The reminder that Bella was behind Carl's little soiree was enough to make him sick and keep him moving toward the lobby, ready with some fancy footwork and fasttalk if necessary. This time of night, the desk clerks were always a little skittish, but maybe he'd get by on charm without Dean there to overshadow his performance. Hell, he was too tired to care about being charming. He just wanted to take it out of Bella's hide for getting Tessa involved and for luring a sap like Carl into her schemes. He shook his head and shuffled into the lobby with his duffel tightly gripped but hung low like a weary traveler just wanting a room for the night.
He must have glowered in just the right way to convince the clerk that he was late and out of excuses, tired, and in no mood for small talk. Charming worked for Dean, but this worked fine for Sam enough to get him on the elevator and to the door of the room without much trouble. He thought a moment that perhaps on some level he'd mojo-ed the clerk with some part of his jedi mind trick or whatever it was that lurked in his head, but had dismissed the idea as soon as he stepped off the elevator. Not only could he not control it, he didn't have a splitting headache - at least not the kind that came with the mojo. It had occurred to him what the clerk had actually said. Assistant? Since when did Bella have assistants? She didn't even have friends! He approached the room carefully, glancing down the corridor to both ends, looking for cameras. He chuckled to himself and shook his head. Of course there weren't, not if she staked out this particular room. He pulled the gun out and slung the duffel over his shoulder, sliding the key with his other hand and watching the light go green. Some things scared even him when they were easy. He stepped back a little and pushed the door open.
Savy had charmed her way past the clerk with hardly any effort, it helped that she leaned on the desk and 'accidently' let him stare down into her top as she pouted over losing her room key. From there it was a breeze to get a replacement and head up to Bella's room to snoop around, she didn't expect she'd find much but was hoping to get lucky. Savy didn't know much about the woman in question but had heard some things which kept her cautious and moving quickly from drawer to cabinet and looking for something to tell her why she'd been targeted for the 'Suzie Q housewife spell'. Savy was so pissed off about that, she almost wished that the woman would return and they could face off properly. When she heard the sounds at the door she ducked behind the door and when it popped open she came out with a swing meant to knock the b*tch on her ass!
The key was pocketed fast. He expected flying fury from behind the door, hoping she didn't also have a gun, but finding the 'she' wasn't even Bella. Maybe there was some truth to the assistant theory, but he wasn't going to ask questions until the fists stopped flying. He saw the swing come at him and reached for the wrist, twisting and pushing to spin the assailant around by that arm and back into the room, if possible, where the escape route wasn't quite so simple.
Savy wasn't expecting a man who was taller than the description she'd recieved of Bella, he knew how to fight too! "Damn." She hissed softly as her wrist was caught and she was spun, she planted one foot as he pushed her back into the room and the other leg kicked back, low toward his shin.
He felt the kick and slipped his foot under hers to keep her off balance, although he was pretty sure she was already off enough to be here to start with. The gun in his hand was threatening by her cheek in the flash of a smile if she spun around enough to see it. "Wouldn't be the first time for that," he teased about the curse she uttered. "Where's Bella?"
She would have been a raging banshee if not for the gun she caught sight of as she tried to spin back to face him and tear him a new one. Well, on second thought a new one could wait. "Why don't you tell me where she is, hmm?" Her blue eyes sparked with anger and fire as she glared at him. "I should kick your teeth in. By the way if you're here for the super housewife spell.. you might want to rethink it. Nasty side effects.. the girl gets all kick you in the face!" As she said the last, she did her best to demostrate it.
She knew enough about spells to believe in this one, and to connect it to Bella, but he remained cautious - enough to block the kick and try to pin her down to the nearest wall or furniture out of reach of the door. The gun was pulled out of danger of actually shooting her at the moment, but he trained it on her again as she threatened him. "No one... is kicking anyone's teeth. I don't know what you mean about super housewife... whatever. I'm just looking for Bella and you're not her. Thief? Although, you could be the maid," he considered, looking her over.
He moved one way at first and Savy thought she was going to be shoved toward the wall but the next thing she knew he'd taken a step back and had his gun up again. She hadn't decided yet whether or not he'd shoot her so reaching for her own gun when he could see her so clearly was not a wise idea. In the scuffle they had moved further into the room and away from the door. "Yeah, I'm the maid and you're the bell boy." She rolled her eyes at him as she folded her arms and stared back at him and his gun. "You might as well give up the dumb act.. if you're looking for Bella you know plenty. You're either her lap monkey, a buyer, maybe an unsatisfied customer...?"
"Right," he laughed, pulling the gun back from the threat, but keeping it near in case Bella did show up. "That'll be the day I go to Hell willingly. Not a buyer, not a friend and not her lap anything. I'd bet you're none of the above either, but you know her, or enough about her. Super housewife?" He asked, looking at her again and her outfit. "You're not the only victim."

"Hey, I'm not a victim!" She snapped far too quickly, she huffed as she shifted her hands and one was held up as if to tell him where to stuff it but he was right in seeing she'd been the target. "Stupid b*tch.. when I get my hands on her." Savy shook her head and eyed him up and down. "You're sister or your girlfriend?"
"A friend.. coworker," he said, feeling compelled to clarify that part of the situation somewhat. "Not the first time she's done something like this for shits and grins, either. Just sorry she got anyone else involved. Boyfriend or fiancee? Any idea how much she charged him?"
For a moment she thought he meant his friend when he said this isn't the first time but she quickly realized that he meant this Bella woman. "Neither." She replied to his question of who had put the spell on her. "It was a guy I smiled at a few times at an internet cafe while doing research. It was a little hard to understand him with my knee in his face but she was looking for a piece of an amulet. He gave her a wad of cash and he was supposed to get the amulet."
"Which is what you're here to get?" Sam was a little confused now. They had an amulet that controlled the spell. Was there another amulet? "Did he ever get it for her?"
"No. and No." She half shrugged and half laughed, her hand rose to gesture to her neck. "He undid the wrong clasp while trying to stick his tongue down my throat. No necklace means no lovey dovey and I stuck my fist in his face."
Sam chuckled. "Sounds familiar.. in a weird sort of way. So the amulet is the one he took off of your neck. Did it look like this? And what happened to it after he took it off? Besides the slugfest?" He looked for something benign enough to touch in the room, never quite certain what might be charmed or poisoned, knowing Bella. He had his own pen, and hoped the paper he scribbled the drawing on was safe. He drew out the basic design of the necklace they'd seen.
"No.. the amulet he was after, the one this Bella wanted, was still around my neck.. that one.." She pointed to his drawing and nodded with disgust. "..was the one he used to put the spell on me." She almost growled the words out, hating that she was talking about herself - she'd been so stupid to put the damn necklace on!
He nodded and slipped his pen back safely in his pocket. "Super housewife," he confirmed. "Do you still have the one she wants? Because... bringing it here right to her isn't exactly the best plan if you don't want her to have it. She could find a way to wager the stripes off a zebra and not feel a bit of guilt about it."
Now she was a little offended and the look she gave him was clear in that as her head tilted to the side. "Do I really look that stupid? Yes, it is still in my possesion but no, I did not bring it here with me, so the woman who was trying to steal it from me could get her hands on it."
"No, you don't look that stupid and I wasn't saying you were. I was saying I hope you weren't... you'd be surprised some of the dumb... anyway, what does she want with it? It might help to know to figure out where she is and how to stop her before she does worse damage."
"Why should I tell you what it does?" She shook her head slightly and looked him over again, deciding to give him a little test, so to speak. If he was just some dude trying for a little payback then he'd be better off if she sent him on his way, but if he was a hunter like herself than the truth might be okay. "Look.. I know you're upset about your friend.. this co-worker.." It clicked in her mind a moment and she tilted her head to the other side. "Does this.. friend have a name?"
"Sure. Tessa," he offered, not sure it was a good idea to give out that much information, either. "How about you? Maybe there's more to the amulet that connects you to this little pet project, hm?"

"Tessa?" Her voice was quietly shocked and she blinked her eyes a few times, her head shaking slightly. "Shit." She whispered that word almost under her breath and started for the door. "I have to go.."
"Not yet, sister. We're not done with twenty questions, yet. Have a seat," Sam said, quick to block her path, though he expecting sitting wasn't high on her list. He held a finger up to his lips to shush an angry reply as he followed it with a finger motion across his neck - something to let him gather his thoughts quickly. He took a step back toward the door himself, listening and glancing around the door frame for any of Bella's little greeting cards. Saying anything else out loud in a room where she'd been was usually not a great plan.
"We're more than done.. friend." She didn't sit but came up short of colliding with him as he moved to block her path to the door. "Look.. I don't know who you are, but I need to go.. Now!" She snapped the last word as he went toward the door and she turned to head to a window - it wasn't so high that she wouldn't consider jumping.
He tried. He was now wondering if she was some weird relation to him and Dean with the display of stubbornness and how quickly she bolted the other direction. "Wait! I mean, no - not that way. It's good, we're good," he said, using the length of his own stride to try and block her again and show there were no little spy tools, or wards or bane hovering around to gather their information, or follow them home - or wherever the next stop would be. "We should stick together. I'm serious. C'mon."
She growled at how quickly he moved to block her again and that she had to look up at him. "Who made you the boss of me?" She asked as she turned again to head to the door now that he'd told her it was clear. "I'm getting pretty sick of guys thinking they can tell me what to do and I'm just going to do it!" She was sort of b*tching to herself as she stalked toward the hall. "If you want to stick together, then I'm driving!" She added over her shoulder, her blue eyes flashing a quick look at him.
Leaving Carl's car behind didn't phase him much. Sam shrugged. "Okay, but tell me why the sudden bat out of hell mode if you know where the amulet is and she doesn't?" She was about in the hall and his pack was back in his hand, the other hand stuffing the drawing away in trade for the gun he pulled out to tuck closer in a pocket.
"I'm not telling you. You're probably her lover boy." She spun once she was in the hall and shoved him against the wall. "Tall, handsome.. firm guy like yourself. Can't be on the good side." She shook her head a little as she looked up to his face.
"What? No! I mean, well, thank you, but no, I'm not her anything," he said, repulsed thoroughly by the idea of getting that close to Bella as the green shade that washed through his features hopefully supported. He looked at the girl's eyes, hopeful for acceptance of that if it would make things easier. "I'm not, I promise," he said as gently as he could while swallowing back the bile. He sighed, "Look, if I'm on anyone's side, it's yours, trying to keep her from ripping a bigger hole in the forbidden zone than she already has, alright? Fine, yes, you can drive, but I'm serious that we stick together. And we take the stairs going out."
Savy tilted her head slightly as she watched the color come and go in his face while he spoke of Bella and his lack of 'anything' with her. "Alright, lover boy.. calm down." She chuckled and backed off a step, putting her hands up with a slight grin. "If you're that set on sticking with me, I hope you like pizza and cheap motels. My salary doesn't exactly afford me glamourous vacations." She turned for the stairs and looked back with her blue eyes sparkling with mischief. "I was only going to jump if you didn't let me out the door. I promise i don't make it a habit."
