January 30, 2009 Friday - 10 pm In town
Justin's only passenger tonight was a stream of steady thoughts with thick checkmarks by them. Friday nights used to be the boys' night out, him and Mitch and Biff, sometimes even Rory if the ledgers were done, but not tonight. Rory? Useless as far as he was concerned for letting off steam. Biff? Useless. Mitch? Newlywed and really useless to him for now. Marcus? Even Marcus was now shockingly attached and mostly useless. He'd be off shift, but he was still restricted to the grounds. Damnit, boys? What's the matter with all of you? Justin laughed to himself, happy for them, but the night was starting out a little dull because of it.
The bike roared into town and melted into the traffic he weaved through lazily, deciding on new haunts or old, comfortable ones to grab a beer or two. If it didn't liven up by then, he'd go home and play chess with Henry and maybe let the old butler win. "Not happening," he muttered, parking the bike alongside the door of a bar he hadn't been to in a while. Maybe the bouncers had changed, or maybe to keep things interesting, they hadn't. A few bruises to wear home usually made a night worth it, even a slow one. The gloves were slid off as he came in past the door check - a bouncer he didn't remember. So far it was looking like the two beer limit might be his best offer. He smiled a little, kind and friendly for now then disappeared into the mix of people as well as he could, though he stood even taller in his boots. The music was tolerable, not his usual speed, but decent enough to drink to. The bartender was new, he could smell the stress on him even over the swarm of people and he cut the guy a break, getting his two beers up front in exchange for a very healthy tip. It might be worth sticking around to see if the guy made it through the night. The crowd was thick and a little on the ugly side of dangerous. The whispers his ears picked up between the bass beats and the random scents of treachery... seedy, and just perfect to entertain him from the spot he'd found to lean against a post in the middle of all of it.
Across the room was a table of 'ladies' who seemed a little rowdy but enjoying themselves a great deal as their laughter rang out into the bar. They all appeared to be eyeing the newcomer and leaning to whisper among themselves over their thought's on him. Some were flattering, others not so impressed, one woman who seemed slightly different than the rest of the group voiced her opinion of him. "Mmm now, him I wouldn't mind sinking my teeth into. I think he's the one." There were more whispers and giggles as the girls discussed whether or not he was the one they were expecting, after a few minutes it was decided he had to be, he did have two beers after all and he was alone. The one who said she wanted to sink her teeth into him split off from the group and disappeared into the crowd, her eyebrow arched up as she headed for Justin. To most it would be like she came out of nowhere and he might notice how strong she was as she suddenly was there against him.
The scents and whispers mixed in with the beat after a short while and he was becoming mezmerized enough by the swirl of them he somehow missed seeing the brunette slink up beside him. A trick of the light or the cheap beer, he wasn't sure. He hadn't missed the scent, though, and it was unmistakably her. He glanced around to the dark corners of the room, wondering where she'd appeared from and he noticed the table of ogling and giggling girls. Nice, ladies, really nice. He turned to the brunette with only a low volume on the dashing smile, giving her friends a nod. "How much do they have riding on this?" He was sure the girls had bet something... what would his pickup line be, who was the beer for, where was his f*cking date... any number of bad bets set up for the one pulling the short straw on a slow night. She got the short straw and was sent over.. but she had a certain something that told him old Henry wasn't going to set up the king's men tonight. He watched her eyes a moment and chuckled. "Sorry, that was kinda rude. Does make a guy wonder what they're laughing about, though, hm?"
Her head tipped to the side and she gave him a questioning smile as if she was a little confused. "hmm I was gonna ask you the same thing.." She glanced back to her friends briefly, who gave her thumbs up, and she turned to face him again. "It's my twenty first birthday.. trying to make it go off with a pop and a bang.. " She laughed at how odd that might sound but if he was the guy they were waiting for then he should know what she was talking about. "So.. how much did they pay you?"

Pay him? His tongue rumbled around in his cheek as he pieced the puzzle together about the birthday and her very intriguing word choice. He chuckled again, looking at the floor, then to the extra beer and held it out for her. "Not enough for the whole show," he winked. "I think this is yours then. So, they didn't give me the name of the birthday girl I'm supposed to.. pop and bang as you put it."
"Thank you." Sure the girls had paid him to be nice to her, but still.. it made her feel good to hear him chuckle and have him give her the drink. She took a long sip from the beer, before chuckling herself. "They didn't give you my name?" Her eyebrow arched up and she took another sip of the beer. "You look pretty damn yummy.. but if you don't know my name.." She pursed her lips a little and then 'tsked' softly at him. "..you're not the male escort my friends pitched in for, are you?" She chuckled again, the beer he'd given her wasn't her first but she was far from drunk. "I'm Taisian, and you are..?"
"No, I'm not, but I could be. Just make the check out to Justin," he chuckled. Escort? Suddenly he wasn't too upset the boys stood him up tonight. He turned the smile up a notch, though it wasn't just for show. "Nice to meet you. Think you can get out of this gracefully? They look armed for bear, cells ready and all."
"They already paid the other guy.. so um.. you wanna give me a freebie?" She smiled and shifted to rock back on her heels a little and then settled to stand 'still' in front of him. "Get out of what gracefully?"
The girl was fast on her feet and he was hoping now she wouldn't just walk off looking for the other guy. He helped himself to slipping his arm around her waist to make it look good for her friends and so he could talk closer to her. "I dunno... how about I offer a cup of coffee or something instead? That's where I was headed if you want to join me. Doesn't mean no bang and pop, just means a little stop on the way and gets you gracefully off the hook with the peanut gallery over there. No harm, no foul if you say no, but I hope you won't." He really hoped she didn't now that he was close enough to home in on just her scent alone and the very nice package it belonged to.
She bit at her lip as she thought it over, glancing back at her friends who didn't appear to have any idea yet that he was the 'wrong guy', she turned back toward Justin and took a deep breath. She was about to answer him but that breath brough his scent strongly to her senses as he'd shifted closer. His scent made her mouth water a little, he was damn good looking too.. she didn't need any more convincing, she was going with him. Still she tried to play it cool, flashing him a pretty smile and giving a slight shrug of her shoulder. "Alright.. you convinced me.. coffee it is." Tonight was supposed to be about fun and he looked like the kind of fun she could enjoy for days.. that pop and bang would be so much better with him than with any escort. Once her friends found out she might have to pay them back but daaaamn he certainly smelled worth it!
"Coffee it is," he smiled. He'd barely touched his beer but waited for her to finish hers. Once they were done, the show as far as her friends were concerned was over and he didn't even have any bruises to show.. yet. He introduced her to his bike and offered her a seat and a helmet if she wanted it. He rarely used one. "Hope I didn't twist your arm too hard. You live around here, then?"
Tasa shook her head with a sparkling grin as she chuckled. "No.. not at all.. I just sort of landed here a couple weeks ago. I have a sleazy motel room.. you don't ever.. ever.. want to see it."
"Why wouldn't I want to see it? It can't be that bad," he chuckled, rolling the bike out and letting it roar to life.
She declined the helmet and left it strapped to the back, tossing her leg over and sliding comfortably behind him. Her hands grasped gently at his waist and she leaned to speak in his ear. "Oh.. it's bad.. once I get something going around here.. if i stick around, I'm definately getting a better place to stay."

He nodded and pulled out a pair of wraparounds to cover his eyes. She had a scent about her that made him curious. Not like the girls from around here, he smiled to himself. Behind the glasses his eyes flared gently, taking in what he could of her - the feel of her grip, the scent and certainly her manner. He was placing a bet on something he rarely lost. The coffee shop was a mile or so away in a quiet corner by itself in a warehouse district, looking like by all rights it should be closed for the night. He pulled up to its flickering neon sign and shut off the engine, giving her a moment to change her mind.
"Nice.. out of the way.. off the beaten track... I like it already." She smiled as she slid off the bike, letting her hand smooth over his back.
"Yeah that is nice," he said as her hand rolled down over him. He watched her a moment before getting off the bike himself. "Best kinda place is the one that no one else really knows about. Hungry? They have food, too."
"Are you kidding.. starving!" She rubbed her taunt stomach, lifting her shirt a little with the motion of her hand. She was lean, well muscled, though not bulky, much stronger than she appeared. A gentle curve and swell beneath the light jacket and at her hips defined her feminine shape.
"Your birthday and they didn't feed you first? Some friends," he laughed, getting the door for her. "Let's get this lady some food. So ... where are you from?"
"They spent alot of money on that escort.. boy are they gonna be pissed when they realize I left with the wrong guy!" She laughed, making quote symbols with her fingers as she said 'wrong guy'. There was a touch of wild spark in her eyes and her smile, that teased and challenged everything. "thank you." She had manners even if she was untamed in many ways, she waited for him just inside the doorway. "So.. you want to know where I'm from.. hmm do I want to tell you?" She teased lightly, looking around at the various places they could sit. "Do they have any quiet corners in here?"
"I dunno. I may have to throw some of these trouble makers outta here to make some room," he teased, giving a wink to the one man at a table by himself who looked up at him through a gin and tonic haze. "Evenin' Frank. How ya doin'?" He patted the man on the shoulder as he walked past and offered her the seat first in the larger corner booth that wrapped around a little.
"Oh no.. you're a regular here.. aren't you?" She brushed against him and took a quick but deep wiff of his scent, to anyone else it probably would have gone unnoticed as it was subtle. Without another word she slid into the booth, all the way to the end of the slight curve and set her back there, waiting for him to slide in next to her.
"People don't ask too many questions here," he winked and gave her a sign that he'd be right back. He moved over the long bare expanse of quasi-cleaned counter top and leaned over to shout to the back. "Hey Laurie... you got some hungry people out here waiting for you. C'mon. Coffee, too, please."
He heard the clatter and came back to the table with a grin. "That should do it," he said, sliding his long and lean form down the bench beside her and stretching a leg out along the rest as he leaned back as well.
Tasa draped her arm over the back of the bench, letting it curl around him a little. "What do you reccomend?" She asked him, reaching for the small one page menu sheet. She kept the banter light and casual for the moment, taking in more and more of his scent with him this close to her.

"Eh, put that down. You can have just about anything you want here," he said, pulling the menu gently from her hand. "And would you quit it. Old Frank there will think you're in and Old Spice commercial. No, I'm not wearing any cologne, but I think you know that."
"They have fresh leg of bambi here?" She asked her eyes holding a faint red glow as she realized he was on to her as she was to him. "I like the cologne you're wearing.."
He chuckled and looked up as the waitress, a large woman bigger around than the two of them together and sour looking under her missing dentures, came out to slap their water glasses and coffees down.
"Cream, honey?" She squeaked out nicely, sounding like she'd been sucking on helium balloons. "I can bring you a pitcher in just a pinch."
"No," he turned to Tasa, not letting her get any ideas about 'bambi'. "How about one of the one-of-everything plates... should keep you up for hours," he winked.
"I'm a night animal I'll be up till after dawn anyway.. why not? An everything plate.. we'll live wildly tonight." She smiled at the waitress and pulled her water glass to her lips.
"And what can I get for you, sugar? You're going to have to keep up with this one," Laurie laughed.
"Sorry.. yes, cream. Pancakes, sausage and one little egg like I like, thanks," he smiled. "You got any steaks out thawed tonight? We may not make it back for breakfast and the store's closed. C'mon, you owe me one," he teased.
"You're a weird one, alright, Justin, honey, but you got it. You want anything for yourself while I got the freezer open?" She asked Tasa, not sure where the girl would put it all, but she figured she'd ask.
She'd finished off the glass of water and smiled sweetly. "aww.. thanks.. I'm good with steak.. unless you think he wont share?" She playfully narrowed her eyes at Justin and tipped her glass to side a piece of ice into her teeth to crunch on.
"Two, Laurie. That'll be fine. I appreciate it." As she turned with an amused laugh and disappeared, he tapped Tasa lightly. "That was for you... steak dinner... on me... but a little early."
She shrugged and grinned again. "Sorry.. I didn't even think.. guess you can tell I don't do this much.. huh?" She played with the ice in her glass and peeked over at him, bumping his shoulder softly. "Thank you."
"Don't thank me yet. You haven't tasted my cooking," he grinned and teased her more. "It's alright. It's your birthday. Just... do me a favor. You can open up a little, tell me what's on your mind."
She stirred her ice in her glass and stayed silent for a long moment, watching the light in tiny sparkles of the broken bits of ice and water. "I can open up? Really.. that's different.. cause I think.. never been around anyone else.. like me."
Again he chuckled, "I meant, don't be shy... not that you were. And I think you're out of water." He may have meant more in that than she realized, unless she was quick to catch the warning in his banter. She was around more than she realized.
She nodded about the water, thinking it was an understatement, though for different reasons than he meant. "It's alright.. I'm not a fish.. and I'm not shy.. just.. I don't know. I guess I don't usually give most people a second glance, but here I am with you. I think maybe I was just trying to figure that out." She smiled and shrugged again. "I'm not complaining or anything, just want to make sure I'm staying sharp and all."
"So far so good.... but soft in the right places," he teased, resting his hand within reach if she felt so inclined. "Maybe I should open up a little for you. You're new here. What do you want to know about, now that you're a free adult to be wherever you want to go?"

She gave him a cheesey smile and avoided answering the question in any serious way by posing her own question back to him. "Hey big boy... hows your coffee?"
"Sweet... yours?" Justin smiled.
"Rolls over my tongue just right.. you know?"
"I can see that," He noddeds and agreed. "so... the first 21 years before you landed here landed you where?"
"A little bit of everywhere.. never too long in one home or another.." She shruged. "I guess I wasn't an easy kid."
He smiled to himself, watching his cup as he turned it in his fingers on the table. He understood all about being that kind of kid. "There's an art to it, really," he smirked, taking the cup up for a sip.
Her chuckle was light and she ran her finger around the rim of her mug. "Yes.. you have to figure out just the right button to push to make em lose it.. You know each one was different. Had to work it just right.."
He gave her a sideways look. "Now cut that out. You're gonna make Frank blush," he winked. The old haggard man was too far away to hear much and likely wouldn't have heard it anyway. "So you said your friends were setting you up... are you supposed to meet them someplace at any particular time or just call them and tell them a story?"
"Frank's much safer blushing.. the real thing would probably kill him.." Her eyes flared slightly as they lifted to meet Justin's, nearly challenging, but still playful. "As for my friends.. They are hoping not to hear from me until.. maybe a day or two.." She winked, grinning. ".. but they will want a really good story."
"Who am I to disappoint?" He murmured back, watching and feeling the challenge. He raised an eyebrow, chuckling at himself and reaching for his own water glass for some ice to cool off his thoughts.
Her smile tipped curiously and she shrugged -a slight movement of her shoulders beneath her jacket. "Honestly.. I don't really know.. You have a last name Justin?"
"Usually. Do you?" He teased.
"No.. not that anyone knows anyway.. no middle name.. no last name.. just Taisian."
"Taisian.. like 'teasing'... I like it. It's Cade," he shrugged. "No need to hide it, but I won't lie -there are some who really don't like it, bu they have their reasons."
She sigh-chuckled and smiled a little. "Justin Cade.. I like how that sounds." She nodded and brought her gaze back to him from where it had drifted far off. "I don't have a birthday.. I have an approximate.. It's a little like not being real."
He raised an eyebrow again, pulling the corner of his lip into a disarming smile beneath blazing ice blue eyes. "So ... how old are you really... in dog years?"
She shrugged. "I've never been good with math.. what's approximately 21 times 7?" She puffed out her lips and tapped her fingers on the table. "All I have is a scrap of paper that tells me who I am.. everything else they made.. you know.. a note that says this is Taisian, she's three.. and that's it.. not even their names or anything. "

He shook his head. 'Made'. Yeah he knew some of them, too. He set his now-empty cup down hard enough for Laurie to hear it and maybe come back with a refill if their food was ever ready. "Can't believe what you read," he murmured. "It's all in what you know, what and how you live and what you dream." He turned to face her with a curious distance in his gaze, partly sorry for her creators or caretakers' mismanagement of such a fine creature. "And in the things that no one can ever take from you."
She nodded, her grin tipping back again as her eyes washed over him. "I like how you think.. Everyone else just sees me as a troubled youth.. you know poor girl has no parents that must be why she is so wild and bad.. whatever.. I'm just free.. ok a little wild. "
"Parents don't make a difference any more. I didn't know mine and I turned out... well ... alright I guess I see your point," he chuckled, working on his water now while they waited. "Guess I understand though. I kinda raised myself. Had a little help, but it wasn't from my parents."
"I kind of think parents are over rated.. but I guess I'm kinda damaged.." Her laugh was very soft and her hand inched toward his a little, slowly letting down the walls that held her away from a world that didn't understand and shunned her. "I got bounced around so much.. ran away a bunch of times.. I raised myself mostly since I was three. I had this need to run free, that no one seemed to get. I can't stand to be confined for too long. Go stir crazy indoors.. well not always, if I'm stimulated properly I can be entertained endlessly I suppose."
He shifted his hand to run a light line over hers, just enough to barely be felt. "Hmm.. now I wonder what she means by that, hm?"
Her hand shifted, her finger hooking to catch his lightly. "Endless possibilities in that. Right now.. here with you is probably the longest I've stayed still and not felt restless or wanted to run."
"Even if you did, I think I might catch up... for a little while anyway." He let her grasp hold. "Right now is good. Really good. Never know what will happen tomorrow... well that's not the gift I was born with."
"I know what I hope will happen tomorrow." Her voice was low almost like a soft purring growl.
"Hey, Laur?! Laurie, if you're done with skinning that pig for the sausage I ordered, can you shove him in a box? We've got plans, here. And don't forget that steak," he hollered, not taking his eyes off Taisian.
"No need to shout, sugar, I'm right here. But I guess you'll be wanting that box anyway. Alright. I'll be right back. You doing okay, honey. You need anything else?" She'd come to the door just as he yelled, carrying the plates and the caraffe to refill their coffee.
She shook her head at Laurie and waited for the woman to move off, her fingers clasping his and the other hand sliding thier plates aside. The growling sound continued softer now but reaching his ears easily. Her eyes flared a moment and she shifted, flexible and strong -she climbed onto his lap, facing and straddling him. Her fingers stroked up his arms and she leaned close to his neck, taking in a deep breath of him. "mmmm.. and I haven't even told you what I was hoping for." Her breath was very warm over his ear and neck.
"Do I get a few tries to figure it out?" He murmured, returning the gesture, taking her scent in as well as he turned to nip her neck lightly.

She twitched, her legs squeezing against his and her fingers gripping when he nipped her neck. Her gasp was sharp and delightful, her gaze heating further as she turned her head quickly. Seeking to catch his mouth in a hungry kiss.
He slid his hands under the table, running over the coarse fabric down to her knees. "Although I think I may have it on the first try," he sighed, trying to keep his wits long enough to get them anywhere but here. His gaze shimmered in feral hues, sharp and looking deeper than any normal man could see or sense. "I want to see that room," he growled lightly.
"I really hope to keep you distracted enough that you wont even notice the room." She murmured in an honest reply, playing over his lips gently with her own, barely holding herself back from diving into him right there.
"Then let me rephrase that... I want to see you, just take me there," he said, letting her interpret what she wanted.
Her fingers curled taking a handful of his shirt and pulling him even closer, she couldn't resist the temptation of his mouth now. Sinking into an insistant, passionate kiss.
"Ta-... Taisian...," he murmured, as eager to continue as he was logically concerned about doing so here. He smiled, dreamily intoxicated by her attention. "As much as I'd love to lick that syrup off you right now, it'll be hell on the jacket. Promise you'll hold that thought until we get there?"
Her fingers tightened their hold on him for a moment and then she growled lightly, letting him go. "Hurry.. not really sure how long I can wait.." She warned him, her scent was thick with desire, a heat that flared and he had fed was building into a blaze within her.
He layered their food into a heap on one plate to slide into the box easily. It would all still taste the same and right now, he didn't care about tasting anything but her. He shifted to get his wallet, suggesting he might not wait either, but still needed to pay the bill. His eyebrow quirked with the less-than-subtle tease as he pulled out his wallet and tossed more than enough down for their bill and probably Frank's and half the morning coffee crowd. "Keep it Laur and stay sweet. We gotta go," he said as she appeared with their boxes.
She stood and stretched, pulling her form into an arch, then reaching for his hand as she eased out of it. "Thank you." She said with a brief but warm smile for the waitress, spinning on her heel to head for the door. Her fingers held fast to Justin's and she glanced down, it was strange but nicely so to feel this connection and heat.
Justin followed behind, rubbing her fingers lightly a moment before letting go for a more substantial handhold at the edge of her jacket. The warmth curled around her side as they slipped out the door and he stepped around in front of her with their box of goodies. "Hold these and hold anything you want to, but tell me how to get where we're going. I'm not slowing down and I'm not stopping until we get there," he sighed out gently.
Tasa smiled, turning into the embrace a bit as they stopped, holding thier box of food out to the side and leaning against his chest. "You know where the other side of the tracks is?" She half teased, nodding in the direction of the more run down area of town. "Head straight there and you'll find this little motel with a flickering sign that if all the letters lit up would read Waterside."

"Which room, cuz this engine's not stopping... until I get there," he winked, offering a more challenging smile.
"Find where I hid the key and the number is stamped into it." She whispered along his jaw, barely nibbling with her soft lips.
"Might just take any old room that's open... to start with," he teased, running his hand along her back and down to her back pocket to start with.
Her arm curled around his neck and she smiled a bit. "Hmmm warm.." She hinted, playing the childhood game of hot/cold.
"Mm hmm. Oh... you want me to look for the key now? Let's try...," he said, being a little less subtle with his handhold dipping lower to lift her slightly. He moved the box from her other hand, letting it drop gently to the ground, low enough not to spill, but enough to catch a close inhale of her all over as he stood back up to pull her closer.
In her scent he'd find more than she was aware of, giving him a slight heads up. She was just on the edge of going into a feral heat, a young female, her developement not sped up like the Veinna girls, so likely to be her first real heat. She was not even aware of the change starting yet, it was not affecting her control or judgement -but soon would have her crazy with need.
"Will your friends worry if you don't call them for a month?" He teased, but her essence was filling his senses and driving him to want things he wanted to take his time with. He was between assignments and the boys often saw him disappear for days at a time, always ready and refreshed when he came back. Damn if she wasn't refreshing him already. "Forget the damn key," he growled gently, sliding around her a moment for a kiss to keep his spark going... and hers.
Something about his growl though soft was deep and masculine and nearly made her tremble at it's sound. His kiss was met with ferver and the spark was very much alive, he fed into the hunger she was feeling for him and the other that was begining too build within her. "They won't worry.. " She murmured, claiming his mouth with an intense caress from hers.
Despite the low traffic, it was about time for the late night patrol to come by and he was in no mood to deal with questions from the boys in blue tonight, especially when they still wanted answers to a few other questions from other times he had no time for tonight. His kiss moved to her neck with another sharp nip, playful and promising. "Let's go."
The nip gave her a brief weak kneed sensation and she dug into him a little, her voice a husky whisper. "Don't do that.." She paused to bring her slightly glowing gaze to lock with his. "..unless you really mean it."

"I never say anything I don't mean," he said in a chillingly honest tone, leaning to pick up the box and then backing away toward the bike. "So if you want me to do something about it, you better come with me."
Her soft growl gave the answer just before she stepped after him, she had him in her sights and she was hungry to taste more of him. She prowled after him, like the animal yet there was a human, feminine, slight sway to her hips as she came toward him. "I want you to do something about it for days."
"Clock's ticking," he chuckled, staying just out of reach to get the box of food in the side bag and get the bike ready to roll.
"There are no clocks where we're going.." She warned softly, catching up to him and wrapping around his waist from behind. "Hurry.." She breathed hotly, licking the edge of his ear, teasingly.
"Ride starts here, darlin'. Hop on and hold on like you don't want to let go," he smiled, getting on and waiting for her to grab hold.
She climbed behind him on the seat of the bike, her arms coming around him. Instead of holding on to his waist, her hands slid over his thighs and found a warm resting place.
No minding that, now, he thought to himself, hoping the road was smooth except for those tracks. Speed limits didn't exist nor did the lights in this lazy part of town as he took off toward the flashing beacon he'd call home for the next... however long he could hold her down or have her pin him.
Her grip on him was firm and she caressed a little as the road shifted the bike in turns and hills. The flickering and half lit sign soon came into view and she spoke in his ear. "All the way on the end in the back.. darkest corner. I don't like nieghbors."
He pulled the bike down the lot to the dark end she indicated, shutting down the lamp and the engine quickly. He turned over his shoulder, "I like the sound of that too."
Tasa grinned and snapped playfully, holding closer for a moment before sliding off the bike and producing the room key from the front waistband of her jeans. "Catch me if you can.." She blew him a kiss and darted off to the last door near the corner of the building.
He wasn't letting their food go to waste. He had a suspicion she'd need it before long and took the time to get it out of the bag along with a few choice extras since he didn't trust leaving anything behind anyway. Let her run ahead, he grinned. He could still smell her.
The door closed softly behind her, not locked but the latch caught so it would not swing back open on it's own. The key was tossed to the three legged table to the left of the door way, her jacket slid off and was tossed, in a fluid motion, to the faded worn chair to the right. She paced into the room without turning on any lights, taking the head start moment to pull off her boots as well.
